Bank Hospital Porter

The Ramsay Woodland Hospital is a purpose built 39 bed hospital with an excellent reputation for the highest standards of care. We offer a wide range of surgical procedures together with extensive diagnostic and treatment facilities.

We are currently looking for a dynamic, self-motivated, computer literate person with good communication and interpersonal skills to work as Bank Porter on an as required basis providing cover for absence or establishment vacancies. You will have ideally worked in a similar Portering position previously, however full training will be given.

A Porter provides a valuable role within the Hospital, assisting the clinical teams with all aspects of providing a clean, safe and efficient environment for patients and staff alike.

The role is physically demanding and involves working with Waste removal, Medical gas bottle changing, Handling and placing deliveries, Movement of patient trolleys and beds, taking in Laundry deliveries and plenty of other varied manual handling duties for which full training will be provided. The role will require working on a rota basis across six days – Monday to Saturday.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

• Professional and confident IT skills
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Accuracy and reliability
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Initiative with a flexible and proactive approach to work

English and Mathematics are an essential part of the role as is a good standard of general education. Some knowledge of medical terminology would be beneficial, although training will be provided. You must have a keen eye for detail.
