The Benefits Coordinator provides temporary administrative and operational support to the Payroll & Benefits team during the Open Enrollment (OE) cycle. This role helps keep OE materials accurate and organized, serves as a first point of contact for routine employee benefits questions, supports system testing, and assists with wellness program reporting. The Coordinator works under the direction of the Executive Director of Payroll & Benefits and partners closely with the Benefits Specialist, escalating more complex or sensitive issues as needed. This position will be contract and remote.

What You’ll Do
Update and maintain Open Enrollment documents and communications (guides, FAQs, plan summaries, forms) so content stays accurate and consistent across all versions
Coordinate information and materials across HR, Payroll, carriers, and other stakeholders to keep Open Enrollment activities on schedule
Serve as a first point of contact for routine employee benefits questions, and escalate more complex or sensitive issues to the Benefits Specialist
Support Open Enrollment system testing, including verifying plan setup, rates, and employee‑facing displays in Workday (or the applicable HRIS)
Assist with wellness program reporting, including tracking participation data and compiling summary reports
Provide general administrative support to the Payroll & Benefits team as needed throughout the Open Enrollment cycle
What You'll Need
Required:
Prior administrative or coordinator experience, preferably within HR, benefits, or payroll
Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling confidential employee data
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain benefits information clearly to employees
Ability to manage multiple tasks and shifting priorities during a high‑volume period
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
Willingness to learn payroll regulations, wage and hour basics, and company policy
Preferred:
Experience with Workday or another HRIS platform
Prior exposure to Open Enrollment processes or employee benefits administration
Familiarity with basic benefits terminology (medical, dental, vision, FSA, HSA, etc.)
Physical Demands
Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions
Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.
Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor

$18 - $20 per hourThe pay range for this position is listed above. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including location, experience, and education. Benefit packages include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as 401k retirement account access. Employees in this role may also be entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
