Job Description:

Vitalant is seeking a Hospital Distribution Technician dedicated to making a positive difference. This is a great opportunity for someone who is detail-oriented, dependable and comfortable working in a fast-paced, highly regulated healthcare environment. You do not need to come from a blood banking background to make an impact. We’re looking for individuals who can follow detailed procedures, provide excellent customer service, work accurately under pressure and understand the importance of getting every order right. While you may never meet the patient receiving the blood you handle, the work you do directly supports patient care every day.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Driver’s License with good driving record required in all locations except PA.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to accurately enter, review and maintain information using computer systems.
• Ability to follow detailed standard operating procedures and established quality requirements.
• Ability to work the schedule associated with the position, which may include weekends, holidays, evenings and/or on-call responsibilities depending on location.
• Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, including handling, moving and preparing blood products and related supplies.

Required Schedule:

Every Monday & Friday 9a-4:30p + Sat & Sun 10a-1p + On call every weekend Saturday, Sunday and rotating on-call Fridays (about every 3rd Friday).

On-call is every weekend from 1pm Saturday – 10am Sunday, and 1pm Sunday – 7am Monday, as well as roughly every third Friday from 4:30pm – 10am Saturday. 

Starting Pay: $17.09 - $18.27 hourly, based on experience

As a Hospital Distribution Technician you'll get to

• Receive, prepare, and ship routing, ASAP and STAT orders of blood and blood products, conducting a visual inspection of each product prior to shipment to ensure order accuracy.
• Professionally and safely deliver products to Vitalant customers in company vehicle.
• Communicate with customers regarding order fulfilment, turnaround times, and product availability.
• Maintain accurate hospital service records for transactions and process fees.
• Monitor all storage requirements, service equipment and vehicle work areas.
• High School diploma or GED required
• Valid in-state driver's license
• Six months of customer service experience required
• Prior healthcare industry experience preferred
• Able to lift 40lbs
