Join our culinary team and start the day with something exceptional! We’re looking for a passionate and energetic Breakfast Demi Chef to join our kitchen team at Novotel Melbourne Preston.

You’ll play an important role in creating memorable dining experiences for our guests. Working alongside our experienced culinary team, you’ll help deliver a high-quality breakfast offering while building your skills in a fast-paced hotel environment.

Located in Melbourne’s vibrant inner-north, we are a leading conference venue and leisure destination offering contemporary accommodation, stylish dining, and versatile event spaces in the heart of Preston. With 383 guest rooms, 13 conference and event venues, and two on-site dining outlets, our property caters to both corporate and leisure clients.

Easily accessible via the 86 tram and Mernda train line—both within walking distance—and with over 400 on-site parking spaces, our property is ideally positioned. We pride ourselves on delivering professional service, memorable experiences, and flexible solutions to meet the evolving needs of our diverse clientele.

 

Job Description

This is a hands-on opportunity for a chef who enjoys the energy of breakfast service, takes pride in quality and presentation, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Prepare and deliver high-quality breakfast dishes in line with our culinary standards
• Ensure food is prepared consistently, efficiently and to a high standard
• Maintain excellent presentation and portion control
• Support daily preparation, stock control and kitchen organisation
• Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and HACCP compliance
• Keep your work areas clean, organised and ready for service
• Work closely with the wider kitchen team to ensure a smooth and positive service
• Contribute to a collaborative kitchen culture where learning and development are encouraged

 

Qualifications

You’ll ideally bring:

• Previous experience in a commercial kitchen, preferably in a breakfast environment
• A passion for cooking and delivering quality food
• A strong understanding of food safety and HACCP principles
• A positive attitude and willingness to learn and develop your skills
• The ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Clear and professional communication skills
• Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends and public holidays
• Valid full Australian working rights
