About this role
The Business Consultant role works with Sales and Account Management to support opportunities and accelerate successful adoption of LSEG solutions, acting as both a pre-sales and post-sales advisor.
Leveraging expertise in financial markets, market data, analytics, and technology solutions, the Business Consultant works directly with customers to understand business objectives, capture workflow requirements, design tailored solutions, and support successful implementation. The role plays a critical part in driving consulting revenue, influencing solution strategy, supporting complex sales opportunities, and ensuring customers realize measurable business value from LSEG products and services.
As a recognized subject matter expert, the Business Consultant combines business consulting, technical knowledge, and industry expertise to guide opportunities from discovery through delivery while fostering strong client relationships and promoting best practices across the organization.
Role Responsibilities
Customer Consulting & Solution Advisory
- Act as a trusted advisor to customers by understanding their business objectives, workflows, operational challenges, and technology requirements.
- Capture and document customer workflows, business processes, technical requirements, and data needs to identify opportunities for consulting services and solution expansion.
- Conduct discovery workshops and stakeholder discussions to identify business challenges and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Leverage expertise in financial markets, market data, analytics, and technology solutions to guide customers toward best-practice workflows and business outcomes.
- Assess customer needs and identify when requirements extend beyond standard onboarding activities and may require additional consulting services, customized solutions, workflow assessments, integration support, or advisory engagements.
Onboarding & Customer Adoption
- Lead standard onboarding engagements associated to ensure customers successfully adopt and utilize purchased solutions.
- Partner with customers following contract signature to establish onboarding plans, define success criteria, and support implementation readiness.
- Guide customers through onboarding activities, helping them achieve operational readiness and realize value from their investment.
- Facilitate smooth transitions from onboarding and project delivery for ongoing engagement and growth.
Complex Solutions & Consulting Engagements
- Support complex opportunities requiring consulting services, proof of concepts, workflow assessments, customized solutions, third-party technologies, or advanced integrations.
- Design and document solution approaches, requirements, delivery scope, effort estimates, and success criteria.
- Develop solution recommendations that align customer requirements with business objectives and technical capabilities.
- Partner with the On Demand Consulting team and other specialists to deliver advanced consulting engagements and complex customer solutions.
- Act as a subject matter expert during customer workshops, solution discussions, and consulting engagements.
- Contribute to statements of work, effort estimates, proposals, and consulting recommendations where appropriate.
Sales & Account Team Partnership
- Collaborate closely with Sales and Account Management teams to support customer opportunities throughout the sales lifecycle.
- Help determine the appropriate onboarding, consulting, and solution approach based on customer requirements and desired outcomes.
- Participate in customer meetings, presentations, demonstrations, workshops, and consulting discussions.
- Contribute workflow expertise, business knowledge, and solution recommendations that help advance opportunities and drive consulting revenue growth.
- Support proposal development, scope definition, statements of work, and consulting recommendations where appropriate.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Delivery Coordination
- Coordinate with stakeholders across Product, Content, Customer Success, Sales, Account Management, and other business functions to ensure customer requirements are understood and addressed.
- Promote effective communication and alignment across teams throughout onboarding, consulting, and delivery engagements.
- Ensure customer commitments, project objectives, and delivery expectations are documented and managed effectively.
- Support governance, risk management, and operational best practices throughout customer engagements.
Thought Leadership & Continuous Improvement
- Contribute to the development of consulting offerings, onboarding methodologies, reusable assets, and best practices.
- Participate in innovation initiatives, internal projects, and knowledge-sharing activities.
- Maintain expertise in financial markets, customer workflows, industry regulations, market data solutions, and emerging technologies.
- Promote the use of AI-enabled productivity tools and innovative approaches to improve customer outcomes and operational efficiency.
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience: 5+ years of financial industry experience, with a proven ability to support software solution sales in complex client environments.
- Education: University degree, preferably with a background in Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Technical Knowledge: Working understanding of SQL databases, common programming or scripting languages, and web protocols such as HTTP, XML, and JSON.
- Pre-Sales and Commercial Acumen: Previous pre-sales experience with software or technical products is highly valued, including knowledge of the product sales cycle.
- Communication Skills: Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients and internal stakeholders.
- Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of financial markets, including buy side, sell side, and wealth management workflows, as well as financial data feeds and relevant industry regulations.

LSEG is committed to offering competitive Compensation and Benefits. The anticipated base salary for this position is $115,300 - $192,100.Please be aware base salary ranges may vary by geographic location, city and state. In addition to our offered base salary, this role is eligible for our Annual Incentive Plan (AIP/”bonus plan”). Target AIP rates will be commensurate with role level and posted career stage. Individual salary will be reflective of job related knowledge, skills and equivalent experience. LSEG roles (excluding internships and part-time roles of less than 20 hours per week) are typically eligible for inclusion in our LSEG Benefits program, which includes offerings of: Annual Wellness Allowance, Paid time-off, Medical, Dental, Vision, Flex Spending & Health Savings Options, Prescription Drug plan, 401(K) Savings Plan and Company match.
