RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using traditional or modern, AI-powered BI tools to support business decision-making across departments. 
• Write and optimize complex SQL queries to extract, transform, and prepare data from source systems, including Google BigQuery and other cloud data warehouses. 
• Design and maintain semantic models (logical/presentation layers) that provide consistent, reusable metrics and dimensions across BI tools. 
• Partner with business unit stakeholders to gather requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and deliver end-to-end BI solutions. 
• Perform issue resolution, performance tuning, and ongoing maintenance for existing dashboards, reports, and data models. 
• Establish and enforce data visualization and dashboard design best practices (usability, performance, accessibility, and visual clarity). 
• Collaborate with data engineering teams to ensure underlying data pipelines and models support accurate, timely reporting. 
• Mentor junior analysts on BI development standards, SQL best practices, and semantic modeling concepts. 
• Document data definitions, calculation logic, and dashboard specifications to support governance and knowledge transfer. 
• Identify opportunities to automate manual reporting processes and improve self-service analytics capabilities for business users.

Technical Competencies

• Business Intelligence Development: Advanced proficiency in designing, developing, and optimizing interactive dashboards, reports, and analytical solutions using Power BI, Tableau, and emerging AI-enabled BI platforms. 
• SQL & Cloud Data Platforms: Strong expertise in writing and tuning complex SQL queries, data preparation, and working with cloud-based data warehouses such as Google BigQuery, Snowflake, or similar platforms. 
• Semantic Modeling & Data Architecture: Experience developing and maintaining semantic models, reusable metrics, dimensions, and governed reporting layers that ensure consistency and trust across analytics solutions. 
• Data Visualization & Analytics Best Practices: Demonstrated knowledge of dashboard design standards, performance optimization, data storytelling, accessibility, and user-centric visualization principles. 
• Data Integration, Automation & Troubleshooting: Ability to diagnose and resolve BI solution issues, collaborate with data engineering teams, support reporting automation, and improve self-service analytics capabilities

Level of position will be determined based on experience and skillset.  

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, MIS, Business, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience). 
• 5+ years of experience in business intelligence, data analytics, or a related field, with demonstrated senior-level ownership of BI deliverables. 
• Advanced proficiency with Tableau and/or Power BI, including dashboard design, calculated fields/DAX, and performance optimization. 
• Strong SQL skills, including complex joins, window functions, and query tuning. 
• Experience extracting and preparing data from cloud data warehouses, particularly in tools like Google BigQuery, Snowflake, etc.
• Hands-on experience designing and maintaining semantic models / metrics layers for enterprise reporting. 
• Proven ability to gather requirements directly from business stakeholders and deliver reporting solutions from concept to production. 
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences. 
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple concurrent reporting initiatives.

Preferred

• Experience with Data Science and/or AI for BI concepts and tools (e.g. Agentic AI, GenAI, ML) 
• Experience with dimensional data modeling (star/snowflake schemas). 
• Familiarity with ETL/ELT tools (e.g., Informatica, dbt, or similar). 
• Experience with Python for data preparation or automation. 
• Experience supporting [industry-specific — e.g., supply chain, sales/marketing, finance] analytics. 
• Familiarity with data governance and data cataloging practices. 
• Experience mentoring or informally leading other analysts. 

LOCATION: Corporate Office Austin, MN preferred / Eden Prairie, MN Sales Office

At Hormel Foods, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. The base hiring pay range for the Business Intelligence (Sr.) Analyst role is between $98,100 – $167,325 per year, and your actual base pay within that range will depend upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skill set, level of experience, and geographic market location.
