Cafe Team Member

Job Summary:

Our Café Team member ensures a welcoming and enjoyable experience for all guests by preparing and serving quality food and beverages, providing friendly customer service, and maintaining a clean and inviting kitchen and dining environment.  This role promotes a culture of hospitality and customer service to foster community, fun, and connection through food.

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Efficiently prepare and serve food and beverages according to established recipes, portion guidelines, and food safety standards, while accommodating guest requests.
• Maintain a clean, well-organized, and inviting Café and dining room environment that creates a positive visual first impression for all guests, including wiping tables, clearing dishes, restocking supplies, and emptying waste.
• Greet guests warmly and take orders accurately, offering menu suggestions when needed.
• Respond to guest questions, concerns, and special requests in a friendly and professional manner.
• Process transactions efficiently and accurately, including cash management.
• Ensure all food preparation and dining service areas are clean, safe, organized, and well-stocked.
• Follow all food safety regulations and guidelines to meet quality, sanitation, and safety standards.
• Perform Café opening and closing procedures.
• Support memorable, engaging experiences for groups, such as field trips, birthday parties, community organizations, and events.
• Assist with Catering food preparation, service setup, event execution, and clean-up.
• Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

• Shows a passion for and commitment to our mission, vision, and values.
• Previous customer service, food and beverage, or hospitality experience preferred.
• Ability to create welcoming guest hospitality and provide positive customer service.
• Ability to follow and enforce established systems, processes, and procedures with consistency and accuracy.
• Team player with ability to collaborate and cooperate.
• Great attention to detail.
• Strong organization and ability to accomplish tasks and meet deadlines.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently.
• Familiarity with basic computer office software and/or point of sale systems.
  

 

What We Offer:

• Starting salary range of at least $15.00 per hour plus tips and will be evaluated commensurate with experience and qualifications.  This is a non-exempt role.

Work Environment:

• This role is an active, hands-on service role, which requires standing for extended periods, engaging with guests throughout the kitchen and dining areas, and performing tasks that involve lifting, bending, and safe handling of materials, to ensure a positive dining experience for our visitors.
• This role must be completed onsite and some flexible scheduling options may be available.
• Scheduled shifts include evenings, weekends, and some holidays. 
• Part-time commitment requires a minimum of 8-10 hours per week.
• This role reports to our Cafe Manager.
