Job Title:  India Engineering - Project Engineer

3M is seeking an experienced Project Engineer for India Engineering’s organization at its Electronic City , Bengaluru  (Karnataka, India) manufacturing plant  and R&D Center.

Job Summary:

The person hired for this position will primarily be responsible for managing capital investment projects in support of manufacturing and laboratories. 

A project engineer uses engineering knowledge and skills as a leader of a cross functional teams to define the scope, cost and schedule for capital investment projects which support 3M’s global manufacturing and research efforts.A project engineer also participates in cost reduction, quality improvements, new process and technology development programs, continuous improvement and safety related activities.

Roles and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Manage project timelines and budgets for assigned projects.
• Successfully interact with multiple discipline teams including 3M plant personnel, consultants and suppliers
• Specify equipment performance and design criteria.
• Estimate capital equipment and installation costs.
• Define and execute competitive bidding strategy.
• Oversee plant equipment layout and design.
• Coordinate construction activity.
• Lead equipment commissioning.
• Protect 3M intellectual property.
• Communicate effectively to project team, facility staff and project stakeholders.
• Gain understanding of applicable codes and guidelines to ensure designs meet standards.

 Location: The person hired for the position of Project Engineer will be located in Electronic City , Bengaluru (Karnataka, India) manufacturing plant.. The primary work location for this position will be at the 3M India, in Electronic City, Bengaluru (Karnataka, India). The successful candidate should anticipate an average of 25% travel to 3M manufacturing locations located throughout India.

Responsibilities of this position may include direct and/or indirect physical or logical access to information, systems, technologies subjected to the regulations/compliance with U.S. Export Control Laws.

 Basic/Minimum Qualifications:

• Currently possess a bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical/Electrical from an accredited university.
• 10 years minimum combined work experience in a project, plant and/or manufacturing engineering positions.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 10 years’ experience in a project engineering / capital project management role in manufacturing process industry ,R &D Setup, GCC /office setup.
• 10 years minimum combined work experience in a project, plant and/or manufacturing engineering position.
• Prefer to have knowledge in  Automotive Film Converting , tape coating line, slitting, converting, filling  and packaging equipment, utilities ( Chiller , Compressor , boiler , HVAC, Power Distribution , Transformer, ETP, etc)
• Strong oral and written communications skills.
• Team player with the ability to contribute to a matrix environment.
