Job Description:

The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD), is seeking qualified candidates for the position of CERTIFIED CLINICAL PEER SPECIALIST at Georgia Regional Hospital – Atlanta, located in Decatur, GA.

Job Summary

Under direct supervision, assist individuals with daily living activities in their homes, residential facilities, hospitals, day programs, group homes, workshops, or supported-employment environments. Provides training in basic personal and social skills, simple academics, and work-related skills.

Job Responsibilities

• Assists individuals with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, grooming, dressing, eating, and mobility.
• Provides direct care and support according to each individual’s service or treatment plan.
• Teaches and reinforce basic personal, social, academic, and work-related skills.
• Encourages individuals to participate in recreational, social, educational, and community activities.
• Observes individuals’ behavior, physical condition, and progress.
• Reports changes in an individual’s condition, behavior, or needs to the appropriate supervisor or clinical staff.
• Documents services provided, observations, incidents, and individual progress.
• Maintains a safe, clean, and supportive living or program environment.
• Follows established health, safety, emergency, and infection-control procedures.
• Assists with meal preparation and other routine household activities when assigned.
• Provides transportation to appointments and activities when required.
• Responds appropriately to emergencies and reports incidents according to established procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED and six months of relevant job-related training or experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience providing direct care or social services to individuals with behavioral health conditions, developmental disabilities, or other special needs.
• Knowledge of basic first aid and safety procedures.
• Experience documenting services and individual progress.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Current CPR and first-aid certification.
• Valid Georgia driver’s license, if required for the assigned position.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma/GED and one (1) year of job-related experience providing social or direct care services to groups of special needs individuals in a human service setting; or one (1) year of experience at the lower level Client Support Worker 1 (SSS010) or position equivalent.
