Role Description
The Tax Specialist will be responsible for state & local tax returns and other tax compliance matters for various entities within the SMBC group.
Responsibility
- Prepare and file corporate state tax workpapers and returns, using OneSource software
- Prepare quarterly estimated tax payments
- Prepare quarterly state tax accruals
- Assist with managing state tax notices and resolving issues with the tax authorities
- Assist and provide support for state tax audits
- Collaborate with external tax advisors and cross-functional teams to support business objectives and drive strategic initiatives.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum of 3/4 years of experience in tax, with a focus on tax and accounting
- Bachelor’s Degree, in accounting and/or finance is preferred
- Understanding of tax laws and regulations, ASC 740, and financial reporting under GAAP
- Ability to prepare tax returns using OneSource software
- Knowledge and experience in Alteryx and automation of tax provision/return preparation is a plus
