What you'll do
- Assess the developmental level of children during their evaluation and provides emotional support and supervision accordingly.
- Provides support to children ranging from infancy to adolescence development and who may be in crisis.
- Addresses the comfort needs of children and families in a non-judgmental manner while facilitating positive coping through structured interactions with children.
- Supports the operational needs of the department while promoting a safe and child friendly environment.
- Possesses knowledge of basic child development and family systems.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the developmental effects of stress and trauma on children and interventions to alleviate distress.
- Displays knowledge of the special needs of children with chronic or disabling conditions.

- Two-year degree in some type of child development and/or family studies courses.
- At least six months related experience is required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and training will be offered to staff.
