What you'll do
- Maintains utmost level of confidentiality at all times.
- Adheres to hospital policies and procedures.
- Provide leadership in the development of hospital initiatives or programs related to data collection, retrieval, analysis, and interpretation to assist in optimizing patient outcomes and/or effectiveness and efficiency.
- Must be able to extract internally generated data from current clinical modules within the electronic medical record. In addition to the internal data, will need to work with external data sources to provide external benchmarking comparisons and identify through clinical data.
- Exhibits the ability to produce reports for internal clinical data and external data as necessary.
- Serves as an expert on clinical data production/interpretation.
- Collaborate with colleagues, provide insight on data generation, interpret results, and help facilitate recommendations/solutions.
- Facilitate standardization of definitions to help provide consistent measurements of data through the facility.
- Assess other clinical databases for attributes, data validation, and necessity.
- Ensures the integrity of project data, including data extraction, processing, storage, manipulation, analysis and distribution.
- Works with management to develop statistical analysis that address proposed projects and analyzes data using basic statistical methods (if needed), interprets results and provides written summaries of analyses.
- Use the scientific discovery process by applying the latest statistical techniques to uncover new business opportunities and increase revenue.

GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB
The Clinical Analyst is responsible for gathering data and converting it into meaningful information used by the Health System’s leadership. Through the development of analytical tools that review operational volumes, expenses, service utilization, quality metrics, market share and profitability, the Clinical Analyst will provide information employed in strategic planning and initiative tracking. Analyst will write reports to gather information out of various DHS systems. Analyst will follow proper procedure to validate data, as well as be responsible to educating end users. The Analyst will have a primary focus area, including but not limited to clinical, operational, or financial.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Use the scientific discovery process by applying the latest statistical techniques to uncover new business opportunities and increase revenue.
- Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, including departmental dashboards.
- Able to maintain global perspective and see impacts and results beyond the traditional organizational walls (departments, services, geographic location).
- Serve as a subject matter expert for matters regarding cardiac databases.
- Navigate the Electronic Medical Record system to obtain designated data elements and input into appropriate database software.
- Stand attune to changes with the databases; communicate those changes to cardiac team and Decision Support.
- Review Data Quality Reports (DQR) during the submission process. Communicate data issues with the team for missing elements from the medical record to ensure the most complete data submission.
- Work with the Heart Center Quality Committee to review outcome metrics and help identify process improvement initiatives from abstracted data.
- Performs other related work as required.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Current RN licensure in the State of Texas
- Bachelors Degree preferred
