About this role

We are looking for an experienced and technically proficient Senior Cloud Engineer with strong expertise in AWS Landing Zone and/or AWS Control Tower. In this role, you will work closely with various stakeholders and technical teams to design, implement, and support secure, scalable, and compliant cloud environments that deliver business value and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

AWS Account Governance & Cloud Operations

  • Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of AWS accounts, including onboarding and offboarding activities within AWS Landing Zone and/or AWS Control Tower environments.
  • Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to gather requirements, coordinate timelines, and ensure smooth account provisioning and decommissioning.
  • Ensure newly provisioned AWS accounts comply with organizational standards by enforcing foundational controls such as GuardDuty, CloudWatch monitoring and alerting, centralized logging, and other governance requirements through Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Serve as the primary contact for account onboarding and offboarding activities, providing regular updates and support to stakeholders and management teams.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to streamline processes, enhance automation, and improve operational efficiency through GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
  • Integrate security best practices into deployment pipelines, including automated compliance checks, code security scanning, and artifact validation.
  • Establish and maintain robust access management controls using AWS Organizations Service Control Policies (SCPs), AWS Identity Center Permission Sets, and Microsoft Entra ID security groups.

IT Service Management (ITSM)

  • Apply ITIL-based practices across Incident, Problem, and Change Management processes.
  • Create, maintain, and update support tickets with clear documentation, root cause analysis, and resolution details.
  • Adhere to service level agreements (SLAs) and ensure issues are resolved within agreed timelines.

Documentation & Knowledge Management

  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, knowledge base articles, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Create and update runbooks to support routine operational activities and incident response processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Computing, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the IT industry, preferably involving AWS cloud implementation, administration, and support.
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS Control Tower and AWS Landing Zone.
  • Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, and AWS CDK.
  • Proficiency in programming or scripting languages, including Python and/or Node.js.
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD practices, DevSecOps principles, and automated testing methodologies.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within cross-functional teams.
  • Strong interest in automation, innovation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Quick learner with the ability to adapt to new technologies and evolving business requirements.
  • Security clearance is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or Professional (strongly preferred).
  • AWS Certified Developer – Associate certification.
  • Additional cloud, security, or DevOps certifications will be an advantage.
