Cloud Platform Engineer 2 (Developer Experience)

Who are we looking for?

Choice Hotels, one of the world's largest lodging franchisors, has an exciting new opportunity as our Cloud Platform Engineer 2 (Developer Experience) in the Cloud Platform Engineering team. The Developer Experience team designs, builds, and operates the engineering platforms, automation, and tooling that enable software teams to develop, test, secure, and deploy applications efficiently and reliably. As a key member of the team, you will improve the developer experience by building and supporting CI/CD platforms, source control integrations, platform automation, software supply chain security capabilities, and cloud-native services that accelerate delivery across the enterprise.

Your Responsibilities

• Build, maintain, and enhance developer platform capabilities that improve software delivery speed, quality, and reliability.
• Design and support Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) solutions using platforms such as Harness and Jenkins.
• Support source control platforms, repository standards, and engineering workflows using Git and Bitbucket.
• Develop automation using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and cloud-native technologies.
• Partner with software engineering teams to improve build, test, deployment, and release processes.
• Implement and support software supply chain security, code quality, and developer governance controls.
• Evaluate and operationalize new tools and technologies that improve developer productivity and platform capabilities.
• Troubleshoot issues across development tooling, pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and platform services.
• Contribute to engineering standards, reusable patterns, documentation, and self-service capabilities.
• Participate in operational support and on-call activities for critical developer platform services.

Your Experience, Skills & Competencies

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field required, or 2-3 years equivalent experience.
• 2-3 years of software engineering, DevOps, platform engineering, cloud engineering, or related technical experience.
• Experience supporting enterprise developer tooling and cloud-based platforms.
• Experience with CI/CD platforms such as Harness, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar technologies.
• Experience with Git-based source control systems, preferably Bitbucket.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or AWS CDK.
• Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Groovy, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Working knowledge of AWS cloud services and modern application deployment practices.
• Understanding of Agile software delivery, DevOps principles, and engineering best practices.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills.

Your Team

This is an individual contributor role that will report to the Manager, Cloud Platform Engineering. You will work closely with Software Engineering, Architecture, Information Security, and Infrastructure teams while collaborating with 6-8 peer teammates across the Cloud Platform Engineering organization.
