Commissioning Project Engineer, Data Center Capacity Delivery Commissioning APJC

This role offers a structured development path within the Commissioning organization:
• Comprehensive onboarding and training on AWS commissioning processes and management systems
• Mentorship from DCCD Cx team members
• Exposure to diverse project types across AWS's global data center portfolio including mechanical, electrical, and controls systems
• Clear progression pathway: advance to Business Analyst / Program Coordinator (program management track) or Commissioning Engineer (technical track)

In this role, you will provide project management support to the commissioning engineers. You will provide support on both administrative and process tasks including vendor onboarding and procurement coordination and commissioning workflow management. You will be given opportunities to work alongside experienced commissioning professionals and will analyze commissioning workflow data to identify bottlenecks, recommend process improvements to enable smooth execution of data center construction projects across AWS’s infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, take ownership of their work, demonstrate passion for process improvement and show eagerness to learn and be curious in a fast-paced environment.


Key job responsibilities
The key responsibility of a Project Engineer is to develop a detailed understanding of AWS critical infrastructure. You will learn the fundamentals related to managing a commissioning project within AWS. As part of this process you will work with different team members who will introduce you to the internal project management tools. You will then progress to the on the job phase where you will participate in the on-site commissioning activities. During the phase of you will support the Lead Commissioning Engineers with managing a project from beginning to end.

• Manage the creation of projects within internal Amazon systems.
• Manage the financial and vendor management related task of the commissioning process.
• Support the Request for Quote process, ensuring all relevant documentation is available for the commissioning vendors to provide a detailed quote.
• Provide administrative support to commissioning engineers in managing commissioning workflows and processes
• Organize and maintain commissioning documentation
• Gather feedback from commissioning engineers and stakeholders to improve workflows and processes by identifying and implementing workflows improvements

About the team
Join the commissioning team, a critical function within AWS Data Center Capacity Delivery that ensures technical excellence and operational readiness across our global data center construction portfolio. Our team provides oversight and coordination of multi-discipline commissioning activities related to pre-commissioning, startup, and acceptance testing of Amazon critical infrastructure construction projects.

As part of the Data Center Commissioning Team, you will be part of a highly creative, efficient team tasked with tackling fascinating and challenging problems building and supporting the operations of AWS owned data centers within the APJC region and globally. The AWS Data Center Capacity Delivery Commissioning team (DCCD Cx) understands, evaluates, defines, and manages the expectations of construction and equipment quality in accordance with engineering designs to meet customer requirements and ensure systems perform as designed.

Basic Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree or above in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or Master's degree or above in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, and MS Project) at an advanced level
- Experience that includes strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities

Preferred Qualifications

- Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems
- Experience in designing experiments and statistical analysis of results
