Communications Manager
About this role
Company Description
We’re Checkout.com. You might not know our name, but companies like eBay, Spotify, Klarna, Uber, and Sony do, because we’re behind many of the digital experiences you use every day.
We are where the world checks out, enabling over 10 billion transactions yearly for more than one billion global shoppers.
Whether you want to book a holiday, order food, renew a subscription, or check out online, there’s a good chance our tech powers the payments behind the scenes. Our platform helps the most ambitious businesses deliver effortless digital experiences, at scale.
If you want to do career-defining work, you’ve come to the right place. We move fast, think globally, and believe great teams are built by hiring exceptional people with conviction, curiosity, and the desire to make an impact.
With 20 offices across six continents and London as our HQ, we’re shaping the future of fintech – and we’re just getting started.
We are seeking a dynamic, strategic storyteller to build and lead our integrated communications and influencer ecosystem across North America. In this high-impact role, you will sit at the intersection of public relations, social media, and creator marketing–transforming complex financial technology narratives into culturally relevant, viral brand moments.
You will own the NORAM PR and Comms remit, working with your colleagues in London to architect multi-layered campaigns that engage enterprise merchants, modern B2B buyers, and tech enthusiasts alike. This is a role for an agile operator who can just as easily pitch a Wall Street Journal reporter as they can negotiate a partnership with a top-tier business content creator.
How you’ll make an impact
Omni-channel storytelling and influencer strategy
Drive the NORAM creator strategy: Own our creator and influencer strategy across social, podcasts, and newsletters to drive maximum brand velocity and awareness.
Social media and executive presence: You’ll work with the global content team to devise North America’s dedicated social media presence and strategy with a focus on elevating our North America-based Checkout executives social media content and presence for impact, brand awareness, and reach.
Earned media and press relations: Uncover compelling fintech and enterprise narratives. Cultivate deep relationships with Tier 1 business, tech, and financial journalists across North America to secure high-visibility regional coverage.
Multi-layered campaigns: Design and execute integrated campaigns that fuse traditional PR with creator partnerships to amplify major product launches, milestones, and corporate announcements.
Analytics and reporting: Drive the NORAM analytics and reporting programme, using data to measure success and inform future PR strategies.
Narrative activation: Work closely with your central Communications colleagues to activate the company’s global narrative to the NORAM audience in a way that’s relevant and engaging.
Operational excellence and scale
Build the infrastructure: Establish the playbooks, workflows, and tools needed for seamless influencer sourcing, contract negotiation, compliance, and brand safety.
Social and owned channel mastery: Treat our social platforms as vital brand assets. Write and refine snappy press releases, localized media pitches, short-form social copy, and high-level internal briefing documents at speed.
Agency management: You will be the lead POC in our NORAM agency work. You will work closely with our selected agency, driving their KPIs to reach and exceed our commercial and marketing objectives.
AI-Driven performance and attribution
AI-augmented productivity: Leverage AI tools as an operational multiplier to streamline workflows, draft outlines, and synthesize market data–knowing exactly where a human editorial touch is required.
Data-backed insights: Track robust KPIs across reach, engagement, SOV, and PR attribution to constantly iterate on our messaging and prove real business impact.
What we are looking for
Experience: 8-10 years of combined experience spanning corporate communications, public relations, and influencer/digital marketing. In-house experience within high-growth fintech or B2B SaaS is highly preferred.
The rolodex: An active, proven network of relationships with North American tech and business journalists, B2B creators, industry analysts, and top-tier podcast networks.
Elite execution: You don't just secure placements; you shape conversation. You possess a unique ability to translate payment infrastructure products and POVs into accessible, headline-grabbing hooks.
Cross-functional fluency: A masterful communicator who can effortlessly brief C-suite executives for podcast and interview segments and an ability to build rapport with independent digital creators.
Startup mindset: Self-starting, resilient, and energized by ambiguity. You excel at building programs from scratch, moving fast, and managing multiple high-priority workstreams without breaking a sweat.
