REQUIREMENTS

  • Physical requirements of the job include supporting individuals in wheelchairs, or walkers, lifting, transferring, using lifts appropriately, pushing, pulling, bending, and assisting clients safely in and out of vehicles, etc. (Necessary on-the-job training is provided to ensure the safety of the participant and worker.)
  • Criminal record check with vulnerable sector search.
  • This job requires union membership with a 1.85% union due deducted from pay.

ABOUT THE JOB:

The Community Support Worker, as a member of the Vista Day Program, supports seniors with diverse abilities to reach their potential and enhance their quality of life. Provides activities and opportunities that:

  • enhance participants’ independence and confidence
  • build relationships and social skills
  • improve physical and emotional health
  • encourage meaningful and rewarding community connections.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Supports clients in recreational activities including sports, crafts, and participation in the community. Transports clients in agency van(s) to activities.

PROGRAM: Deserg Gardens Day Program-NEW!

LOCATION: Kamloops, BC

NUMBER OF VACANCIES: Two (2)

STATUS: Temporary Full-Time

TERM: 12 months with the possibility of extension

HOURS of WORK: 35 hours per week

SCHEDULE: Monday to Friday between 8:00 am - 4:00 pm (in accordance with Handidart schedule requirements)

REPORTS TO: Desert Gardens Day Program Coordinator

COMPENSATION: $27.53-$31.57 per hour (Grid 10 as per collective agreement)
