What you'll do

  • Conduct thorough due diligence on third parties to meet regulatory standards, including onboarding, identity verification, bank details checks, due diligence and ongoing monitoring.
  • Support the design and implementation of risk-based workflows, controls and escalation processes for third parties.
  • Conduct beneficial ownership checks for higher-risk third parties.
  • Improve data quality, documentation standards and auditability of third-party compliance records.
  • Contribute to the implementation of action plans arising from corruption risk mapping and compliance risk assessments.
  • Design, document and monitor practical controls relating to gifts and hospitality, conflicts of interest, third-party engagement, donations, sponsorships and other relevant risk areas.
  • Prepare clear guidance, training materials, compliance memos and executive-ready presentations.
  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of sanctions screening and monitoring.
  • Help assess higher-risk situations and ensure appropriate escalation where required.
  • Monitor relevant sanctions developments and support updates to internal policies and training materials.
  • Ensure sanctions-related decisions are properly documented.
  • Support the Legal & Compliance team in maintaining and improving privacy-related processes, including GDPR and other applicable local privacy requirements such as India’s DPDP framework.

  • 6-7 years of relevant experience in compliance, third-party risk management, anti-corruption, sanctions, forensic compliance, internal controls or regulatory risk.
  • Strong understanding of compliance risk-based controls, due diligence processes, sanctions screening and anti-corruption requirements.
  • Full professional proficiency in English, including the ability to draft clear memos,policies, procedures and presentations.
  • Good project management skills, with the ability to coordinate and successfully deliver projects.
  • Experience with compliance screening, due diligence and corporate intelligence tools such as LexisNexis Bridger, Orbis/ Moody’s, World-Check or equivalent platforms.
  • Comfortable using digital tools, workflow automation and generative AI responsibly to improve compliance processes.
  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree or equivalent qualification in Law, Compliance, Risk Management or Finance.

Nice to have

  • Prior experience in a Big 4 is strongly preferred. In-house experience in an international corporate environment would be a strong advantage.
  • Professional certifications such as CA or CIA or equivalent would be a plus.

Job Description

We are looking for a pragmatic, business-oriented Group Compliance Manager to join Believe’s global Legal & Compliance team. This position is essential for ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and safeguarding our organization against risks such as corruption, trade sanctions, and data privacy issues.

The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in strengthening Believe’s global compliance framework, with a particular focus on third-party risk management, anti-corruption, international sanctions, compliance controls and operational compliance projects.

The position is based in India at our Mumbai office and would be reporting locally to the Head of Customer Finance and Legal Operations and with a central reporting to the Group Risk & Compliance Director based in Paris headquarters.

Key Responsibilities:

KYC-KYB & Third-Party Management

  • Conduct thorough due diligence on third parties to meet regulatory standards, including onboarding, identity verification, bank details checks, due diligence and ongoing monitoring.

  • Support the design and implementation of risk-based workflows, controls and escalation processes for third parties.

  • Conduct beneficial ownership checks for higher-risk third parties.

  • Improve data quality, documentation standards and auditability of third-party compliance records.

Anti-Corruption and Business Integrity

  • Contribute to the implementation of action plans arising from corruption risk mapping and compliance risk assessments.

  • Design, document and monitor practical controls relating to gifts and hospitality, conflicts of interest, third-party engagement, donations, sponsorships and other relevant risk areas.

  • Prepare clear guidance, training materials, compliance memos and executive-ready presentations.

International Sanctions and Restricted Parties Screening

  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of sanctions screening and monitoring.

  • Help assess higher-risk situations and ensure appropriate escalation where required.

  • Monitor relevant sanctions developments and support updates to internal policies and training materials.

  • Ensure sanctions-related decisions are properly documented.

Data Privacy Support

  • Support the Legal & Compliance team in maintaining and improving privacy-related processes, including GDPR and other applicable local privacy requirements such as India’s DPDP framework.

  • Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to maintain Records of Processing Activities, data mapping and privacy documentation where required.

Additional Insurance Support

  • Provide operational support for the administration of global insurance programs, including E&O, D&O and cyber policies.
