What you'll do

  • Cover both regulatory compliance and financial crime
  • Assist in the Compliance coverage of the business lines of the Paris branch, which includes : maintaining a robust financial crime and core compliance function
  • analysing applicable EU and French laws and regulations and reporting identified risks and issues to senior management
  • advising the business on transactions
  • Interact frequently with other Paris branch functions and our Regional Headquarters based in London
  • Act as a contact point for local escalation of compliance-related concerns, transaction-related questions, incidents, breaches of legal and regulatory requirements or Group policies and procedures regarding all compliance matters
  • Review AML and sanctions alerts, as the case may be, investigate potential money laundering and fraudulent financial activity across client business lines, including drafting suspicious activity reports (SAR)
  • Prepare reports, meeting material and risk assessments required by applicable processes or ad-hoc requests (such as internal audit or requests from regulators)
  • Review Compliance policies and procedures regarding all compliance matters, including financial crime (KYC, Sanctions, AML and ABC) and core compliance (market conduct, cross-border transactions, data privacy etc)
  • Analysing the impact of new laws and regulations, in coordination with the Legal Department

Overview of the Department/Section

The Compliance Department of MUFG Bank Ltd, Paris branch is responsible for ensuring that Paris branch operates in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, industry standards and internal policies or procedures.

Main Purpose of the Role

The Compliance Officer will:

  • Cover both regulatory compliance and financial crime;
  • Assist in the Compliance coverage of the business lines of the Paris branch, which includes :

Functional/Technical Competencies

  • Ability to apply legal and regulatory requirements to practical situations
  • The position calls for a pragmatic and business-oriented mindset
  • Ability to use systems such as SIRON or screening systems or other inhouse systems (eg core banking system)
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Fluent English & French

Education/Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Business Law, Banking Law, Financial Law or similar degree
  • Master’s Degree in Compliance, Internal Control, and Risk Management
  • Master’s Degree in Finance or Auditing
  • Business School Degree with a specialization in compliance, risk management, or regulatory affairs

Personal Requirements

  • Strong communication skills, excellent French and English language skills (written and spoken)
  • Being well-organised and solution-oriented
  • Ability to perform duties pro-actively and reliably under pressure
  • Enjoyment of teamwork and being a team player
