Position Summary

The Business Development team supports the firm across a broad spectrum of new business and client relationship-building activities, including the creation of new business proposals and firm marketing materials, upkeep of the databases that track firm experience and client information, competitive and market intelligence, and coordination of client events.

The Coordinator for Business Development will work closely with the Finance Business Development team, partners and other lawyers to develop and implement business and client development initiatives for the firm’s Finance practice. The role supports and manages client pitches, RFPs, presentations, events, sponsorships, legal rankings and league table submissions, and other profile‑raising activities for the practice.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Qualifications/Position Requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively at all organizational levels, including partners and senior stakeholders
  • Highly organized, with strong attention to detail and disciplined approach to processes and quality control
  • Demonstrated accountability and ownership of assigned workstreams and deliverables
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team and across departments
  • Working knowledge of transactional practice areas; Finance practice experience strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint and Excel
  • Experience with CRM and/or experience management systems and external research platforms (e.g., InterAction, ContentPilot, Bloomberg, PitchBook, Capital IQ, LSEG, KBRA DLD) preferred.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 1-3 years of experience in legal marketing or business development within a law firm or professional services environment preferred

Compensation

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $70,000 - $80,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, anticipated assignment, and, where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Davis Polk offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
