The United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry (SDG) is located along the St. Lawrence River in the south-eastern corner of Ontario.  SDG is “Where Ontario Began”, and is rich in heritage, tradition, and culture with an abundance of historical sites, great events, and beautiful attractions.  With a population of 65,000, SDG is primarily rural yet close to urban centres such as Cornwall, Ottawa, and Brockville.

 

The Courier ensures timely delivery and pick-up of library materials to all branch libraries within a determined schedule.

 

The Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry County Library is responsible for providing public library services throughout SD&G.  Reporting to the Director of Library Services, the Courier’s main duties include but are not limited to:

 

• Regular delivery service to all SDG Library branches on a schedule determined in consultation with the Director of Library Services.
• Perform delivery, pick-up and sorting of books and library materials according to established delivery schedule.
• Perform miscellaneous driving and delivery duties, integrated where possible with the scheduled delivery routine, making deliveries for the County and deliveries and pick-ups from repair shops or stores.
• Perform vehicle maintenance duties by cleaning the interior of the vehicle daily, cleaning the exterior as required; scheduling routine service as required and reporting vehicle problems or anticipated repairs to supervisor.
• Ensure the safety and security of branches and property by confirming that branches are locked and secure after delivery.
• Perform maintenance duties at branches and the Administration Building including but limited to painting, replacing lights, assembling and dissembling shelving and moving furniture as required.
• Follow all Health & Safety policies and procedures and report any non-compliance or any possible safety risks.
• Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

Qualifications:

• Secondary School Diploma
• Ontario Driver's License Class G
• Physically strong for the moving and transfers of heavy boxes
• A satisfactory criminal record check is required

2026 Salary Range:  $56,618 to $66,248 per year with full benefit package and pension

Schedule: 40 hours per week
