Data / Business Analyst — Investment Data Platform Programme

We’re supporting a major investment management organisation on a strategic transformation programme focused on modernising its front-office investment data landscape.

The programme is building a unified investment data platform and toolkit for investment desks, replacing a complex environment of legacy spreadsheets, desk-built tools, inconsistent manual processes and fragmented data flows. This is a long-term initiative with significant business visibility and a clear focus on giving investment teams cleaner, more reliable data and a more scalable way of building tools and processes.

We’re looking for an experienced Data / Business Analyst who can operate as a strong BA while bringing hands-on data analysis capability. This is not a pure reporting analyst role — the successful candidate will work closely with fund managers, front-office investment stakeholders, technology teams, data operations and market data teams to understand data requirements, map current-state flows and support delivery into a new Snowflake-based platform.

Key responsibilities

• Engage directly with front-office investment desks, fund managers and senior business stakeholders to understand detailed business and data requirements.
• Analyse current-state investment data flows across legacy spreadsheets, desk-built tools, source systems and manual processes.
• Document data lineage, source-to-target mappings, data definitions and business rules.
• Work with technology, architecture, engineering, data operations and market data teams to shape robust data solutions.
• Support the design and delivery of investment data feeds into a new strategic data platform.
• Use SQL to investigate data, validate outputs, identify issues and support mapping decisions.
• Help translate front-office requirements into scalable data capabilities for investment users.
• Challenge requirements constructively and bring structure to a complex, partially undocumented environment.
• Build credibility with stakeholders and support delivery of tangible value across the programme.

Essential experience

• Strong Business Analysis experience on data-heavy change, transformation or platform programmes.
• Proven experience working on front-office investment, asset management, investment data or related financial services projects.
• Strong understanding of investment data domains such as securities, positions, analytics, market data or portfolio-related datasets.
• Excellent hands-on SQL skills, including data investigation, validation and mapping.
• experience defining requirements, documenting data flows, creating source-to-target mappings and supporting data design.
• Ability to work confidently with senior business stakeholders, including investment users and technical delivery teams.
• Comfortable operating in ambiguous or poorly documented environments.
• Strong communication, documentation and stakeholder management skills.

Required technical experience

• SQL — strong hands-on capability is essential.
• Snowflake — required, as the target platform is Snowflake-based.
• experience working with complex data platforms, data feeds, data lineage or database structures.

Desirable experience

• Ability to read or understand Python and/or VBA, particularly where existing user-built tools or spreadsheets need to be analysed.
• Previous experience with investment data platforms, market data, data migration or data modernisation programmes.
• Exposure to self-service data tooling, platform-based operating models or AI-enabled development environments.
• experience supporting front-office teams through business change or standardisation initiatives.

Ideal candidate profile

The ideal candidate will be a confident, pragmatic Data / Business Analyst with strong SQL and Snowflake experience, credible investment domain knowledge and the ability to work directly with front-office users.

You’ll be able to bridge the gap between investment stakeholders and technical teams, challenge requirements in the right way, and bring clarity to complex data environments. This role would suit someone who understands the importance of reliable investment data and has delivered on front-office related change or transformation programmes before.
