We are seeking a Data Engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable data solutions that support business intelligence, analytics, and operational data needs. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Python, Snowflake, dbt, Atlan, and OPUS EDM/Markit EDM, with a strong understanding of data modeling, ETL/ELT development, data governance, metadata management, and cloud-based data platforms. This role will be responsible for building and optimizing data pipelines, ensuring data quality and reliability, integrating data across enterprise systems, and supporting data cataloging and lineage initiatives. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with business stakeholders, analysts, and engineering teams to deliver trusted, well-governed data products. Experience within the reinsurance, insurance, or financial services industries is highly desirable, particularly familiarity with investment, market, or reference data management processes. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment are essential.

What you will do

• Creates and supports the process to pull the information from source systems and place it into the data lake
• Performs big data design and testing, including data design, big data architecture, catalog, and repository creation
• Designs, develops, and maintains the big data technologies and architectures
• Assists with the creation of data lake schematics and layouts
• Implements effective metrics and monitoring processes, as directed
• Applies existing standards, processes, and procedures to big data systems
• Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience
• May work with business and IT stakeholders to optimize information by defining business requirements and populating the data lake
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) or equivalent education/ experience Required
• Master’s degree in Arts/Sciences (MA/MS) Preferred
• 1+ Years big data or relevant experience Required
• 1+ years experience with cataloging, modeling, ingestion, processing, and streaming technologies and processes Required
• Ability to solve moderately complex problems, drawing upon technical experience, precedents, and judgement. Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new technologies. Required
• Strong interpersonal skills. Strong communication skills, including ability to explain complex information in straightforward situations Required
• JavaScript technologies (eg, jQuery, Angular, React and Nodejs) Required
• HTTP, SSL/TLS, REST, SQL, JSON, and Excel Required
• AIX/Linux, Websphere, Weblogic, Tomcat, JBOSS Required
• MySQL, Oracle, SOLR, NoSQL, Postgres, Mongo DB and Hive Required
• Continuous Integration Tools (eg, CruiseControl, Continuum, Travis) Required
• Test Driven Development processes and tooling (eg, JUnit, Mocha, Jasmine, Protractor) Required
• DevOps-style deployment tools (eg, Docker, Ansible, Vagrant) Required
• Experience with business intelligence and/ or data warehouse technologies and processes Preferred
• LOMA certification Preferred

Compensation Range:

$78,080.00 - $110,860.00 Annual

Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
