What you'll do

Conduct discovery and assessment of customer’s legacy data sources to document data structures, dependencies, and data quality issues.
Perform data profiling to identify incomplete, duplicate, or inconsistent records prior to migration.
Design and execute data extraction, transformation, and load (ETL/ELT) processes to migrate legacy data into Azure‑based environments.
Cleanse, normalize, and standardize datasets to ensure consistency, accuracy, and usability across modernized systems.
Coordinate data migration timing with application teams to ensure data availability aligns with production deployments and go‑live activities.
Validate migrated data through reconciliation checks and stakeholder review to confirm completeness and accuracy.
Implement data quality checks, validation rules, and exception handling to support long‑term data integrity.
Support establishment of basic data governance artifacts, including documentation of data definitions, standards, and transformation logic.
Prepare curated datasets to support analytics and reporting use cases, including Power BI dashboards.
Support data integration efforts by assisting with data synchronization and API‑based data flows where required.
Develop and maintain technical documentation related to data models, migration approaches, and data quality controls.
Contribute to monthly progress reporting and other contract deliverables as required.

As a Data Engineer within the solutions delivery team, you will contribute to the modernization of mission-critical government systems. In collaboration with multidisciplinary stakeholders, you will design secure integrations among the portal, Microsoft Power Platform, Azure services, existing systems, SQL Server, and approved file-transfer services. This role supports health-screening data collection, workflow automation, notifications, results delivery, reporting, and analytics while preserving the authoritative system of record. All solutions must comply with approved GCC cloud environments, FISMA Moderate security requirements, federal privacy controls, Agile delivery practices, and Enterprise Performance Life Cycle requirements.

Role and Responsibilities:

Design, build, test, deploy, and maintain secure ETL/ELT processes for structured and unstructured public health data.
Develop scalable batch, scheduled, event-driven, and near-real-time pipelines for portal intake, validation, workflows, reporting, analytics, and bidirectional MHS exchange.
Integrate Power Pages, Power Apps, Dataverse, Power Automate, Azure services, APIs, SQL Server, CDC/NIOSH systems, and approved file-transfer platforms.
Develop secure MHS SQL Server integrations using approved APIs, stored procedures, connectors, gateways, hybrid connections, or VPN interfaces; prohibit direct public database access.
Required Skills
- Five or more years of experience in data engineering, systems integration, data warehousing, analytics engineering, or database development.
- Hands-on experience constructing and maintaining production ETL and ELT pipelines using SQL and Python.
- Strong SQL Server development skills, including queries, views, stored procedures, data modeling, performance optimization, and controlled database interfaces.
