 We’re looking for an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team on a 3-month contract based on-site in Melbourne, VIC.

This is a great opportunity for a hands-on DBA with strong SQL Server experience who enjoys working across database operations, performance, troubleshooting, upgrades and project support.

Requirements

What You’ll Do

  • Provide SQL Server administration and operational support across production and non-production environments.
  • Monitor database performance, capacity and overall health, proactively identifying and resolving issues.
  • Manage database backup, restore and recovery processes, including disaster recovery testing.
  • Monitor SQL Agent jobs, database services and routine maintenance activities.
  • Plan and execute database upgrades, migrations and approved changes.
  • Apply SQL Server patches, cumulative updates and security fixes.
  • Support application and project teams with database deployments, troubleshooting and technical advice.
  • Support monthly operating system patching and validate database services following maintenance.
  • Assist with incident resolution through established service management processes.
  • Maintain database documentation and ensure operational, security and governance requirements are met.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, application support, project teams and external vendors.
  • Assist with broader infrastructure and operational activities as required.

What You’ll Bring

  • 3–5 years’ experience in a DBA or similar database-focused role.
  • Strong hands-on Microsoft SQL Server administration experience.
  • Experience supporting enterprise production and non-production environments.
  • Strong knowledge of database monitoring, performance tuning and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with database backup, restore and recovery processes.
  • Experience with SQL Server patching, upgrades and migrations.
  • Knowledge of SQL Agent jobs, database maintenance and health checks.
  • Exposure to Veeam and disaster recovery processes would be highly regarded.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage incidents and competing priorities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • The ability to work collaboratively across infrastructure, application and project teams.
  • A proactive approach, with a focus on maintaining secure, stable and high-performing database environments.
  • Australian-based candidates preferred.
