Job Description:

The laboratory assistant will provide support for the Dental Assisting Program. Under the general supervision of a primary faculty member, responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to:

 

• Assist students in dental assisting lab skills.
• Prepares and maintains required documentation and administrative reports.
• Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training area.
• Assess students' progress in attaining Student Learning Outcomes.
• Request and maintain supplies and equipment, as needed to support the learning environment.
• Submit required documentation on a timely basis.
• Ensure compliance with institutional, TCSG, and accreditation standards.
• Establish a classroom environment conducive to student learning and success.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Current dental assisting credential required by the state of Georgia
• Hold a Dental Assisting National Board “Certified Dental Assistant” credential
• Candidate must be proficient in and have knowledge of dental materials, four-handed dentistry, preventive dentistry; chair-side assisting with emphasis in diagnostics, operative and removable prosthodontics, orthodontics, pedodontics, surgical and expanded functions procedures. 
• Possess the following certifications: BLS for Healthcare providers (CPR & AED)
• Possess and demonstrate effective verbal/written communication skills.

·         Strong commitment to student success initiatives.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Possess a diploma from an accredited college or university in Dental Assisting.
• Prior college-level teaching experience with evidence of effective and student-centered instructional practices.

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

• Part time assignments will be based on earned degrees, work experience, and SACSCOC Faculty Credential Guidelines.
• In programs that require professional licensure, an active unencumbered license must be provided by the applicant during the interview process. 

 

SALARY/BENEFITS:
