The Role:
Our site in San Luis Obispo, CA is seeking a Designer/Drafter to join our team for the Spring 2027 season. This assignment is intended to be 6 months in duration.
As a Designer/Drafter Co-Op, your primary responsibility will be collaborating with engineers and technician to create detailed schematics and designs drawing using SolidWorks software. Your attention to detail will be crucial as you produce accurate technical drawings, ensuring precision in layouts. Additionally, you’ll perform Manufacturing Redlines and process Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) during the manufacturing process. Beyond drafting, you’ll assist in new product development systems. Clear communication skills are essential, as you’ll collaborate closely with engineers and other team members.

What You’ll Do:

• Collaborate with engineers to create detailed schematics and designs using SolidWorks.

• Perform Manufacturing Redlines and process Engineering Change Requests (ECRs).

• Assist in drafting drawings for each systems.

• Work closely with the engineering team to ensure precise and high-quality designs.

• Any other duties as assigned.

What We Seek:

• Proficiency in CAD software, including SolidWorks.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate technical drawings.

• Excellent communication skills for collaboration with engineers and other team members.

Desired Major(s) & Graduation Year:
Mechanical Engineer, graduating in Spring 2027 or later

Eligibility:

• Must be a currently enrolled student

• Available to work 40 hours a week, M-F (8a-5p) beginning in January through June

• Must be familiar with the university’s requirements to participate in a co-op program

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to climb ladders as needed to perform job duties.

Compensation: $20-$30/hour range with actual pay dependent on candidate overall skills for the role.
