Position Title: Development Chemist – R&D Butyl Technologies

Location: Pirmasens, Germany (Onsite)

Position Overview

Join H.B. Fuller’s R&D team to develop innovative butyl-based sealant and adhesive technologies. In this role, you will drive product development from concept to commercialization across markets including insulating glass, transportation, construction, renewable energy, and industrial applications. Working with global cross-functional teams, you will help deliver sustainable, high-performance solutions for customers worldwide.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize butyl-based sealants and adhesives for industrial applications.

  • Conduct product testing and application evaluations using established laboratory methods.

  • Support scale-up activities from laboratory development to manufacturing.

  • Improve existing products throughout their lifecycle.

  • Evaluate new raw materials and technologies to enhance product performance.

  • Define technical specifications and quality requirements for materials and products.

  • Maintain laboratory equipment and support safe, efficient R&D operations.

  • Collaborate with Technical Service, Product Management, Quality, Manufacturing, and Sales teams.

  • Prepare technical reports and maintain project documentation.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.

  • Experience in product development, formulation, or industrial chemistry.

  • Knowledge of formulation chemistry, material science, and laboratory testing methods.

  • Professional proficiency in German and strong English communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively in cross-functional teams.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience developing industrial adhesives and sealants, preferably butyl technologies.

  • Knowledge of analytical techniques and product performance evaluation.

  • Experience with SAP S/4HANA.

  • Interest in innovation and sustainable product development.

  • Willingness to travel internationally as required.
