Digital and Community Marketing Executive

THE PIE | JOB DESCRIPTION

About the role

The PIE is looking for a creative, commercially minded Digital and Community Marketing Executive to grow, engage and better understand our global community of international education professionals.

This varied digital marketing role spans social media, content creation, community engagement, website management and lead generation.

Beyond likes and followers, you'll be curious about who is engaging with The PIE and what that tells us about their relationship with our brand. Working with Growth Marketing, Sales, Editorial and Events, you will turn engagement into audience insight and qualified leads. You'll also help shape The PIE's digital and physical presence, from event websites to our stands at industry events.

Key responsibilities

Social media & content

  • Manage The PIE's social channels (LinkedIn & Instagram focus), aligned to audience and commercial goals.
  • Create engaging written, visual and video content about The PIE's events, journalism, talent services, people and expertise.
  • Test new formats and use performance data to see what resonates.
  • Work closely with Editorial, keeping journalism and marketing clearly distinct.

Community engagement & lead generation

  • Spot individuals and organisations showing meaningful interest in The PIE and help turn that engagement into marketing-qualified leads (MQLs).
  • Look across the wider journey, emails, event pages, webinars, not just single posts.
  • Use HubSpot and other data to build a fuller picture of audience engagement and commercial signals.
  • Share leads and insight with Sales, with useful context for follow-up.
  • Help refine lead-scoring criteria with Growth Marketing.
  • Manage the LinkedIn inbox and create the LinkedIn newsletter, following up commercial enquiries promptly.

Websites, SEO & digital presence

  • Build and maintain event websites with clear, compelling calls to attend, sponsor or participate.
  • Apply SEO best practice to maximise organic visibility.
  • Own and improve non-news pages on thepienews.com.
  • Improve website user journeys and conversion using engagement data.

Events & brand activation

  • Coordinate The PIE's presence at external industry events.
  • Work with internal teams to use events to grow network, audience and commercial opportunities.
  • Brief and manage creative suppliers (photographers, videographers, social walls, etc.).
  • Provide design support (social graphics, mailer and website assets) and back up the Graphic Designer during busy periods.

What we're looking for

Someone who combines creativity with commercial curiosity. Someone as interested in why people engage as in creating great content.

  • Experience managing professional social channels, especially LinkedIn and Instagram.
  • Strong video creation and editing skills, ability to work at speed to turn around content and messaging.
  • Strong copywriting skills, adaptable across platforms and tones.
  • Experience creating social-first visual and/or video content.
  • Good grasp of social analytics and turning data into insight.
  • Understanding of digital marketing funnels, lead generation and MQLs.
  • CRM experience (e.g. HubSpot), or enthusiasm to learn.
  • Experience with CMS platforms and building/maintaining webpages.
  • Practical understanding of SEO.
  • Strong organisational and project-management skills; confidence managing suppliers.
  • Ability to collaborate across Marketing, Sales, Editorial and Events.

Experience in events, media, B2B marketing or international education is a plus, not essential.

What success looks like

  • Growing reach and meaningful engagement, especially with priority audiences.
  • More social/organic traffic into The PIE's websites and event pages.
  • Digital engagement converting into identifiable MQLs and commercial opportunities.
  • A clearer picture of how community members engage across touchpoints.
  • Event and non-news pages that convert visitors effectively.
  • A strong, professional presence at external events.
  • Evidence that community activity is driving wider audience and commercial growth.
