What you'll do

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight of Clinical Documentation Integrity operations.
  • Develop and execute CDI program goals aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Lead, coach, and develop CDI managers, supervisors, and team members.
  • Drive improvements in documentation quality, CC/MCC capture, severity of illness (SOI), risk of mortality (ROM), and overall reimbursement accuracy.
  • Partner with coding, quality, case management, compliance, revenue cycle, and physician leadership teams to optimize clinical documentation practices.
  • Monitor CDI productivity, quality, and financial performance metrics.
  • Develop physician education strategies and lead provider engagement initiatives.
  • Analyze operational and financial data to identify trends, opportunities, and risks.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory, governmental, and organizational documentation standards.
  • Support organizational growth initiatives, acquisitions, client implementations, and process improvement efforts.
  • Utilize technology, analytics, and AI-enabled solutions to enhance program effectiveness and operational outcomes.
  • Establish and maintain policies, procedures, and best practices supporting CDI excellence.

The Opportunity:

The Director, Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) is responsible for providing strategic leadership, operational oversight, and performance management for Ensemble's Clinical Documentation Integrity program. This leader will drive documentation excellence, accurate reimbursement, quality reporting initiatives, and regulatory compliance while partnering closely with physicians, coding leadership, case management, revenue cycle operations, and executive stakeholders.

This role requires a seasoned healthcare leader with deep expertise in inpatient CDI operations, physician engagement, quality metrics, reimbursement methodologies, and team development. The Director will foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and operational excellence across the CDI function.

This position is 100% onsite in Naples, Florida. We are open to candidates who are willing to relocate to the Naples area.

Essential Job Functions

Employment Requirements / Qualifications

Required Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience.

Preferred Education

  • Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Nursing, Business Administration, or related field.

Required Experience

  • 7+ years of progressive Clinical Documentation Integrity experience.

  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing CDI programs and teams.

  • Experience in acute care hospital environments.

  • Strong understanding of DRG reimbursement methodologies and inpatient clinical documentation standards.
