We are currently seeking a Director, Manufacturing Operations and Business Excellence to join our GQO business line in Tijuana, BC Mex.

What you will do
As a Director, Manufacturing Operations and Business Excellence you will design, implement, monitor and oversee the activities of a mission critical high volume manufacturing plant. Sets manufacturing and operations strategic direction and motivates staff and organization to meet quality, cost, schedule, inventory, and delivery requirements while fostering an environment of continuous improvement. You will drive business development and value by completing large cross-functional projects including Manufacturing transfer and maximize competencies around Lean/Six Sigma. Deliver regular process improvement in all major portions of the business and best practices for continuous improvement as part of the company culture in alignment with the overall business strategy. You will be responsible for organizing project activities and interdepartmental meetings; ensuring communication facilitates completion of the program/project are on schedule and within budget constraints.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Responsible for design, implementation, monitor and oversee all operations and the actions required to assure production, shipping schedules and planned sales are achieved within the operational expense and capital budgets.
- Prepares weekly and monthly operational reports covering products scheduling and shipping activities, major product availability issues, and product support projects.
- Plans and coordinates the transfer of new products, technologies, equipment and processes in conjunction with marketing & sale needs, and supports group strategic plans.
- Coordinates and participates in general administrative and technical programs and functions such as: manpower planning, production schedule, shipping commitments, management development programs, QIP/JIT, and their compliance.
- Coordinates with appropriate group plans for future strategic plans implementation, including orderly phase-in of new products and phase-out of existing ones.
- Assures proper follow-up to operational, design and reliability issues. Coordinates and implements required process, design and technology changes in agreement with established procedures and plans.
- Leads implementation of Lean initiatives
- Develop and deliver the foundational elements of the Tijuana Manufacturing Business Process Excellence/Operational Excellence initiative.
- Partner with senior-level leaders to assess current processes, metrics, and customer requirements to identify process improvement opportunities. Implement a robust review process for selecting, scoping, prioritizing and monitoring Lean/Six Sigma projects.
- Sustain an enterprise-wide Business Excellence program to transform the organization’s culture to include continuous improvement as a fundamental element. Mentor candidates to become Lean/Six Sigma practitioners as Green and Black Belts to support the overall Business Process Excellence initiative.
- Train Team Members in Lean, Six Sigma, and change management, at all levels: Team Member awareness, practitioners, business leaders, and executives.
- Develop departmental capability to identify, define, scope, and staff improvement projects.
- Establish a prioritization model and execution method for broad deployment ensuring selection of critical process projects aligned with business objectives.
- Train and retain a regularly rotating deployment team capable of driving improvement in all elements of the Tijuana Manufacturing business. Provide one-on-one project review and mentoring to black Belts, Champions and teams in the effective application of Six Sigma methodology and tools to achieve business results. Maintain a skilled Business Process excellence team through regular and refresher training on methods, tools and statistical analyses – as needed.
- Lead the operations team to deliver key programs or projects per associated timelines, quality requirements and budget.
- Lead New Product, Process and Technology implementation initiatives while tightly managing project spend on capital & expense budgets.
- Work closely with franchise leaders, PMO, Manufacturing Transfer, Product Development, and other functional stakeholders as necessary to drive successful project implementation. Actively engage with Manufacturing Operations to evaluate existing process layouts in terms of new process integration, ensuring best utilization of floor space, minimized handling and optimum process flow.
- Participate in the selection, training and performance appraisal process of operations resources, including temporary contract SMEs as required
- Establishment of priorities, imparting a sense of urgency and importance to the team while using project management tools and techniques to support the delivery of new products per cost and time commit.
Education & Special Trainings (Required)
- Bachelor’s degree
- 10+ years related manufacturing or technical experience
- 5+ years management experience, with proven leadership experience in a business environment
Qualifications & Experience (Preferred)
