What you'll do
- Oversee general ledger activity, account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial records.
- Prepare monthly financial statements, Board reports, and budget-to-actual reports; investigate variances.
- Develop and monitor agency, program, center, and grant budgets, including revisions and reallocations.

- Review payroll for accuracy and maintain supporting documentation.
- Coordinate financial requirements and deadlines related to PEBA/SCRS, Empower, Colonial Life, and ASI Flex.
- Prepare and monitor federal and state financial reports, drawdowns, budgets, expenditures, and allowable costs.

The Director of Finance is responsible for the financial administration and fiscal operations of Spartanburg County First Steps. This position oversees accounting, budgeting, accounts payable and receivable, payroll-related financial activities, grant financial management, cash management, financial reporting, compliance, and audit support. The Director ensures financial activities are accurate, timely, properly documented, and compliant with agency policies and applicable state and federal requirements. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Financial Management & Reporting

- Serve as liaison with the State Office of First Steps Finance Department and Regional Fiscal Manager.
- Provide financial guidance to management and program staff and collaborate with auditors, vendors, and external agencies.
- Attend Finance, Leadership, Board, and other meetings as assigned and complete special projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
- Extensive experience in accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, AP/AR, or financial administration.
- Experience with accounting and financial management systems.
- Knowledge of state and federal financial and grant requirements.
- Experience with payroll, banking, purchasing, grants, and audit support preferred.
