6-Month Contract | $40 per hour + Super | Melbourne CBD (Hybrid post-training)

The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for an analytical and solution-focused Dispute Resolution Specialist on behalf of a prominent organisation based in the Melbourne CBD.

You will manage a portfolio of dispute files involving superannuation fund members, trustees, and service providers. Your core focus will be investigating factual timelines, facilitating conciliations, and resolving complex superannuation disputes in line with relevant governing rules, trust deeds, and statutory frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

• File Investigation & Analysis: Thoroughly review superannuation dispute files—including death benefit distributions, total and permanent disability (TPD) claims, fee assessments, and administrative errors—evaluate supporting evidence, identify core issues, and determine fair and reasonable remedies.

• Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR): Schedule, prepare for, and conduct effective conciliations and negotiations between members, legal representatives, and fund trustees.

• Framework & Legislation Application: Apply principles of natural justice, procedural fairness, relevant statutory standards, trust law, and precedent guidelines to achieve timely, balanced outcomes.

• Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain clear, empathetic, and objective communication with fund members, legal advocates, beneficiaries, and corporate case managers.

• Escalation & Systemic Reporting: Draft comprehensive case assessments and escalate complex legal questions, potential systemic issues, or breaches of trust obligations to senior decision-makers.

What We Are Looking For

• Experience: 2–3+ years in superannuation claims/disputes, alternative dispute resolution, legal practice, financial services compliance, or consumer advocacy (or relevant tertiary qualifications in Law, Commerce, or Finance).

• ADR Skills: Proven ability to manage conflict, mediate delicate or sensitive discussions, and negotiate outcomes between opposing parties.

• Analytical Capability: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to digest trust deeds, medical assessments, financial statements, and complex superannuation account histories efficiently.

• Communication: Superior verbal communication and plain-English drafting skills, with an ability to unpack complex superannuation concepts for non-technical audiences.

• Time Management: Demonstrated history of managing active caseloads and meeting strict procedural targets in a fast-paced environment.

Work Model & Offer

• Pay Rate: $40.00 per hour + superannuation

• Tenure: 6-Month Contract

• Location Structure: Melbourne CBD

  • Training: 100% full-time on-site in the office for the first 6–8 weeks.

  • After training: Hybrid model (3 days in office / 2 days work from home).
