Our STMJ (Science, Technology, and Medical Journals) team publishes high-quality, peer-reviewed research that drives progress across scientific and medical disciplines. We collaborate closely with authors, editors, reviewers, and societies to ensure the integrity and impact of the published work. Through innovation in editorial workflows and publishing technology, we help global research communities discover, evaluate, and disseminate knowledge that advances science and improves lives.

About the Role

We are seeking an Editorial Process Manager for Heliyon, an all-science, open access, Cell Press journal. Reporting to a Deputy Editorial Team Leader, you will coordinate the flow of new and revised manuscripts from submission through publication while supporting the quality, integrity, and efficiency of the editorial process. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals with scientific literacy to begin or develop a career in scientific publishing within a global and collaborative team.

Responsibilities

  • Assess newly submitted manuscripts and check them for ethical and scientific compliance, as well as completeness.

  • Review to-be-accepted manuscripts for adherence to our publishing and ethical standards.

  • Spot-check the performance of external academic editors and provide structured feedback to internal colleagues.

  • Support technical queries from external editors.

  • Contribute to the systematic chasing of pending tasks and the management of a backlog.

  • Assist in the editorial process as required as the journal evolves.

Requirements

  • Have a BSc degree (or equivalent) in life, medical, social or physical sciences. 

  • Possess an enthusiastic proactive attitude, great analytical skill and the ability to pay close attention to detail.

  • Be able to adapt to change, handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously and prioritize individually.

  • Have great interpersonal skills within an international team.

  • Be able to work equally well collaboratively or individually without continuous supervision in an ever-changing environment.

  • Be PC proficient with expertise in Microsoft Office (particularly Outlook and Excel).
