The successful candidates will join a dynamic group, taking the lead on multi-disciplinary Transmission & Distribution projects both in Ireland and the rest of Europe. This role involves client site visits for requirements validation, crafting high-quality proposals, and report generation.

Key Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years in HV electrical design, with expertise in 110KV, 33KV, and 140KV ranges.
  • Proficient in utility and construction plant design, from substations to new builds, with a focus on primary and secondary engineering (protection & control systems).
  • Skilled in design software (ETAP, Eplan, AutoCAD) or similar types of software and engineering simulation tools relevant to electrical and substation design.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of HV transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear, and Neutral Earthing Resistors (NER), including design load calculations.
  • Proven field experience with HV contractors or utilities, essential for practical implementation of design theories.

Key Tasks in your Day to Day

  • Substation Architecture: Engineer and design a state-of-the-art substation framework tailored to energize the new construction, ensuring optimal functionality and scalability for future requirements.
  • Conductor Engineering: Develop robust conductor systems responsible for transmitting electrical power efficiently from the substation to the new development, with a focus on capacity handling and loss minimization.
  • Switchgear and Control Systems: Craft cutting-edge switchgear solutions, encompassing control systems, busbars, and protection mechanisms designed for reliability and safety in power distribution.

Responsibilities:

  • Spearhead electrical aspects of projects, ensuring effective resource allocation and project milestones adherence.
  • Integrate civil design specifications with electrical equipment requirements in collaboration with civil engineers.
  • Act as the primary contact for Utility providers and client engineers, managing communication and documentation.
  • Develop procurement specifications for primary plant components, reviewing supplier documents to guarantee compliance with technical and functional specifications.
  • Approve HV layouts, electrical systems, control and protection systems, and conduct HV system studies.

Professional Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • People management and strong team coordination abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to act as a team player and initiative-taker.

Role Outline:

  • Design and Specification: Innovate high voltage power systems, with a focus on load-bearing and redundancy for complex environments like data centers.
  • Load Calculations: Analyze and determine the electrical demand for HV systems, factoring in various operational equipment.
  • Reliability Analysis: Develop designs ensuring high system reliability, incorporating redundant systems for operational continuity.
  • Protection Coordination and Utility Integration: Create protective schemes and collaborate with utilities for seamless external to internal HV integration.
  • Energy Efficiency and Compliance: Optimize designs for energy conservation and ensure adherence to industry standards.
  • Cross-disciplinary Collaboration: Work alongside mechanical and civil engineers to ensure integrated design solutions.
  • Documentation: Produce comprehensive documentation, schematics, and procedures for the electrical infrastructure.

This position requires an innovative and seasoned professional to lead electrical engineering endeavors, ensuring efficiency, quality, and compliance with industry standards. If you are ready to take on this challenging and rewarding role, we look forward to your application.
