  • And Much More – These are just a few of the ways we invest in our people and help them thrive.

About the Team

You’ll join a team where people work with integrity, inclusion, innovation, agility, collaboration and commitment. In practice, that means sharing ownership, solving complex problems together and staying connected to the customer context, the purpose behind the work and how each role contributes to meaningful outcomes.

We deliver prime systems integration projects which build, develop and support military solutions for Defence. The team focuses on leveraging our local engineering, our services expertise, and global products to bring new capabilities to the Australian Defence Force.

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity exists to join a team focused on sustaining and introducing new capabilities into service for the Royal Australian Navy (RAN). Systems supported include:

  • Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs)

  • Ruggedised Portable Computing Systems

  • Weather Stations and Weather RADAR equipment

  • Hydrographic survey systems

Working closely with the Technical Lead, you will help understand priorities, solve complex engineering challenges and drive key project outcomes. As part of the team, Electrical Engineers are responsible for maintaining and evolving product baselines and system structures across multiple delivered sub-systems, while also supporting the seamless transition of new capabilities into service.

In this role, you will:

  • Take responsibility for, and ownership of, engineering tasks, applying knowledge and judgement to research and create solutions to identified problems as a member of the engineering team.

  • Work on 12V-24V battery systems, power distribution and wiring/cabling, electrical safety and design to standards such as IPC/WHMA-A-620.

  • Create and modify engineering drawings and documentation to communicate solutions during review with other members of the team.

  • Be the Subject Matter Expert for Electrical Engineering design and integration of Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) and Military Off-The-Shelf (MOTS) elements into a wider system.

  • Be involved as a member of the team in developing system enhancements and modifications and then make them a reality.

  • Take part within a structured, supportive Engineering framework to drive engineering tasks from technical investigation to documented completion plan and coordinate the conduct of test and evaluation activities.

About You

We are looking for someone who brings judgement, curiosity and a collaborative approach to work that matters.

Essential for this role:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering, recognised in Australia.

  • System level approach: being able to ask the “so what?” question to think critically regarding the effects of engineering changes on the system as a whole.

  • An understanding of the key elements/phases of Systems Engineering activities necessary to maintain the systems, preferably completed within the Defence industry.

  • The ability to develop engineering artefacts (Applications for Deviation, Problem Reports, Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), engineering investigation reports, specialist engineering design, etc.).

  • Experience in risk and hazard identification/management within a regulatory environment.

Advantageous, but not essential:

  • Experience within Defence, maritime, sustainment or acquisition environments is highly regarded.

Due to the nature of the role, you must be an Australian Citizen and be able to obtain a Baseline security clearance.

If this role interests you, we encourage you to apply. We value different experiences and are interested in the capability and potential you could bring.

What to Expect When You Apply

Our hiring process is designed to be straightforward, respectful and easy to navigate. If your skills, experience and qualifications look aligned with the role, our Talent Acquisition team will contact you to discuss the next stage. You can expect:

  • An initial conversation with our Talent Acquisition team

  • An interview with the hiring manager or interview panel
