Job Overview
We are looking for a skilled Embedded Firmware Engineer with strong experience in Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and embedded systems, along with a solid foundation in Digital Signal Processing (DSP). The ideal candidate will work on high-performance, low-power wireless devices involving sensor data acquisition, real-time streaming, and advanced signal conditioning using filtering techniques.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain firmware for embedded systems with a focus on Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) communication
- Work with Wi-Fi and other wireless technologies (optional but preferred)
- Interface and integrate sensors such as:
- Accelerometers
- Gyroscopes
- Other IMU / environmental sensors
- Implement Digital Signal Processing (DSP) techniques for real-time sensor data analysis
- Design and apply filtering techniques such as:
- Low-pass, high-pass, and band-pass filters
- Moving average and exponential smoothing filters
- Sensor fusion filters (e.g., complementary filters, basic Kalman filtering)
- Develop solutions for high-frequency data acquisition and streaming over BLE and/or Wi-Fi
- Implement and optimize mesh communication protocols
- Work extensively with Nordic Semiconductor (nRF) platforms, including:
- nRF5 SDK
- nRF Connect SDK (NCS)
- Design and optimize data storage systems using NOR Flash, ensuring efficient:
- Data logging
- Retrieval
- Wear leveling (if applicable)
- Optimize firmware for:
- Low power consumption
- Bluetooth range and reliability
- System performance and latency
- Debug, test, and validate firmware using standard tools (JTAG, RTT, logs, etc.)
- Collaborate with hardware, mobile, and backend teams for system integration
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong experience in Embedded C/C++ programming
- Hands-on experience with BLE stack development and debugging
- Solid understanding of Digital Signal Processing (DSP) concepts, including:
- Sampling theory and aliasing
- Noise reduction techniques
- Time-domain and basic frequency-domain analysis
- Experience implementing filters on embedded systems for real-time data conditioning
- Experience working with sensor data acquisition and processing (IMU preferred)
- Solid understanding of:
- Real-time systems
- Interrupts, timers, and low-power modes
- Experience with nRF52/nRF54 series or similar MCUs
- Familiarity with high-throughput data transfer over BLE
- Experience with flash memory management
- Understanding of wireless communication fundamentals
- Experience in production-grade firmware development
- Familiarity with mobile app interaction (BLE central side)
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to power profiling and optimization tools
- Experience with OTA (Over-the-Air) firmware updates
- Knowledge of RTOS (Zephyr preferred for NCS)
- Experience with sensor fusion algorithms (e.g., orientation estimation using IMU data)
- Experience implementing or working with BLE Mesh or other mesh protocols
- Experience with Wi-Fi-based embedded systems
- Experience in wearable devices / IoT products
- Familiarity with FFT or spectral analysis in embedded environments
