- Salary / EOC 1.1 (probation): $75,456.00 (pro-rata)
- Salary / EOC 1.2 : $77,720.00 p.a.
- Casual / $37.88 Per Hour + 25% casual loading
- Mile End South / 5031
About the Role
As an Emergency Medical Dispatch Support Officer (EMDSO), you will be the first point of contact for people calling 000 (Triple Zero) for an ambulance.
You will support vulnerable South Australians during high-stress situations by:
- Answering emergency calls
- Assessing patient needs
- Providing guidance and support
- Helping determine the most appropriate care pathway
This is a fast-paced, high-impact role where your communication skills and calm approach can make a real difference.
Training & Development
- Full-time paid training for approximately 22 weeks
- On completion, transition to casual employment
- Gain a nationally recognised qualification:
Certificate III in Ambulance Communications (HLT31015) – fully funded by SAAS
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking people who can:
- Put patients first and communicate confidently with a wide range of people
- Stay calm and solve problems in high-pressure situations
- Show empathy and compassion for people in distress
- Build trust through clear and respectful communication, particularly over the phone
- Have strong communication skills (spoken and written)
- Act with professionalism, honesty, and confidentiality
- Ability to work 12 hours shift work across day and night shift
You will also have:
- Experience managing competing priorities under pressure
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Confidence using computers, including Microsoft Office
- Good knowledge of metropolitan Adelaide and regional South Australia

Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory Criminal History Check & Working with Children Check, and willingness to obtain or hold Current HLTAID011 (First Aid Certificate)
