Engineer - Monitoring, Event Monitoring

Job Summary

This role supports IT operations by monitoring network events and system alerts using standard monitoring tools, ensuring timely identification and reporting of incidents within the assigned environment. The position focuses on executing routine monitoring tasks, responding to predefined event triggers, and assisting with initial troubleshooting to support system stability.

Key Responsibilities

1. Utilize event monitoring tools such as Nagios or SolarWinds to observe network and system alerts, identifying anomalies for further escalation.
2. Monitor computer network operations through dashboards and logs, documenting observed events and status changes as per team protocols.
3. Respond to standard event triggers by following predefined procedures, including logging incidents and notifying relevant team members.
4. Assist in updating monitoring documentation and event logs to ensure accurate records for ongoing operations and audits.
5. Participate in team discussions to share network and event monitoring findings, contributing to knowledge base updates.

Skill Requirements

1. Basic understanding of computer network operations, including network devices, protocols, and monitoring concepts.
2. Familiarity with event monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, SolarWinds, Zabbix) for basic alert tracking and reporting.
3. Fundamental knowledge of IT infrastructure components such as servers, routers, and switches.
4. Basic skills in documenting monitoring activities and events.
5. Ability to follow standard operating procedures for event escalation and incident reporting.

Other Requirements

1. CompTIA IT Fundamentals (ITF+) certification is optional but valuable for foundational IT and monitoring knowledge.
