Job Description
Experience
•5 years of experience in general maintenance related to building systems and equipment as found in a hospital
Preferred Qualifications
•Proficient in two or more fields among electricity, plumbing, heating/ventilation/air conditioning, and commercial carpentry
•Knowledge of building, life safety, and National Fire Protection Association codes
•Knowledge of Americans with Disabilities Act and Occupational Safety and Health Administration standards and Joint Commission requirements
•Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Windows 95
Education
•High school diploma or equivalent
Certification Summary
•No professional certifications required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
•Working knowledge of electricity, plumbing, heating/ventilation/air conditioning, and commercial carpentry
•Ability to supervise different levels of personnel and direct and coordinate multiple assigned projects
•Expertise in reading blueprints, including architectural, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing drawings
•Ability to interpret equipment specifications, operations, and maintenance manuals
Job Responsibilities
1.Assists the Engineering Manager in providing training, leadership, and staff development.
2.Assists in establishing and maintaining all work schedules, issuing work orders, and ensuring the timely and professional completion of all tasks.
3.Assists in the establishment of maintenance benchmarks and measurable outcomes on various departmental processes, including staff performance measurements.
4.Checks and maintains required record of all necessary equipment readings, ensuring that all equipment is operated and maintained at optimum efficiency and in compliance with all regulatory agencies.
5.Assists the Engineering Manager in coordinating an efficient energy management program.
6.Assists in the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures and measurable goals and objectives for the department.
7.Assumes the functions of a mechanic whenever necessary.
8.Manage the day to day operations of the staff, including but not limited to: work assignments, task management, time tracking/management, and on-the-job training.
9.Take an active role in coaching and mentoring the team to ensure continued employee growth and success both on the team and at the broader CHOA organization.
10.Assist manager with employee performance evaluations and hiring decisions.
