[EPC] Senior Test Engineer (Embedded Automotive Testing)

Job Description

As a Senior Test Engineer, you will play a key role in defining, implementing and improving testing solutions for automotive embedded software products. The position combines technical leadership, test strategy development, automation enablement and cross-functional coordination to ensure delivery quality for complex vehicle communication and embedded system projects.

You will work closely with SWSD, Function Developers, Architects, Project Managers and global stakeholders to establish efficient testing approaches across SIL, HIL and Continuous Testing environments while driving competency growth and quality excellence within the team. Inspired by current EPC ComTest and SIL transformation initiatives. (VW & STLA Account)

Key Responsibilities

Test Strategy & Quality Leadership

• Define and maintain project test strategy aligned with project requirements and organizational quality standards.
• Plan and coordinate testing activities across System Test, Software Qualification Test, SIL and HIL environments.
• Ensure requirement-to-test traceability and coverage throughout the development lifecycle.
• Review test specifications, test designs and test reports to ensure completeness and effectiveness.
• Drive quality improvement initiatives, defect prevention and lesson-learned activities.

Test Design & Execution

• Analyze requirements and clarify ambiguities with stakeholders.
• Develop test cases, test specifications and test data for embedded software systems.
• Automation & Continuous Testing
• Develop and enhance automated testing solutions using Python or similar scripting languages.
• Contribute to Continuous Testing (CT) and CI/CD integration for test execution.
• Improve testing efficiency through automation, reusable test assets and tooling.
• Support SIL-based validation and early defect detection strategies.
• Drive test environment optimization and automation initiatives. 

Technical Leadership

• Mentor junior engineers and support competency development within the team.
• Provide technical guidance on test methodologies, automotive communication and debugging.
• Support onboarding, knowledge sharing and test process improvement initiatives.
• Act as technical focal point for testing-related topics within projects.

Stakeholder Management

• Collaborate with global teams, project managers, architects and customers.
• Report test progress, risks and quality status to internal and external stakeholders.
• Support audits, assessments and compliance activities (ASPICE, Functional Safety, Quality Gate Reviews).
• Execute and monitor system-level and software-level validation activities.
• Investigate defects, perform root-cause analysis and support issue resolution.
• Generate test summary reports and communicate project quality status.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience in Embedded Software Testing or System Testing.
• CI/CT or DevOps experience.
• Knowledge of CAN, LIN, FlexRay, Ethernet communication protocols.
• Experience with Vector tools (CANoe, CANalyzer, VT System).
• Solid experience with Automotive Embedded Systems.
• Experience in project-level testing coordination or technical leadership roles.
• Hands-on experience with test automation development.

Nice to have

• Python programming for automation framework development.
• Automotive communication stack and gateway validation experience.
• Knowledge of AUTOSAR architecture.
• ASPICE process knowledge.
• Functional Safety (ISO26262) awareness.
• Experience establishing testing concepts for SIL Continuous Testing environments.
• ISTQB Foundation or Advanced Certification.
