The Role & About the Client

ITS Building People are currently recruiting for an experienced Estimator on behalf of a well-established construction business based in Ringwood, Dorset.
The business has a strong pipeline of work across the commercial, education and healthcare sectors, including both refurbishment and new-build projects.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Estimator to join an established team and play a key role in securing future projects. You will be involved from initial enquiry and tender through to handover, working closely with clients, consultants, subcontractors and the wider pre-construction team.

Key Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:

• Reviewing tender enquiries, drawings, specifications and contract information
• Preparing accurate and competitive tenders and estimates
• Producing detailed bills of quantities and pricing schedules
• Obtaining and analysing subcontractor and supplier quotations
• Liaising with clients, consultants and subcontractors
• Identifying potential risks, opportunities and commercial considerations
• Carrying out take-offs and measuring works
• Working closely with the construction and commercial teams
• Attending tender meetings and site visits where required
• Supporting the business with value engineering and alternative solutions
• Ensuring tenders are completed accurately and within required deadlines
• Maintaining a strong understanding of current construction costs and market conditions

The Ideal Candidate Will Have/Be:

• Previous experience working as an Estimator within the construction industry
• Experience pricing commercial, education and/or healthcare projects
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials and build costs
• Experience working with drawings, specifications and tender documentation
• Strong subcontractor and supplier negotiation skills
• Excellent attention to detail and commercial awareness
• Good IT skills, including Excel and estimating software
• Ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a wider team
• A relevant construction or commercial qualification would be advantageous
