What you'll do

  • Facilitate and/or coordinate Family Care Centre programs as needed including but not limited to: Cooking, sewing, language, family, VBS, day camp, Pathways of Hope etc.
  • Have knowledge of Community Supports.
  • Actively promote all Kitchener Community and amily Care Centre programs.
  • Assist with the annual Share the Warmth program.
  • Coordinate the annual Christmas Kettle Campaign from October – December with support from Director and Executive Directors.
  • Oversee several Christmas Kettle locations.
  • Assist with recruiting and onboarding support staff and volunteers.
  • Ensure timesheets and mileage reports are submitted accurately and timely.
  • Supervise, support and assign staff and/or volunteers throughout the campaign.
  • Orient and remind staff/volunteers on proper Kettle handling and duties as required.
  • Greet clients and answer phones as required
  • Conduct initial intake applications and screen clients for assistance including food, clothing and household needs.

  • Completion of a Community College Certificate in social services, Community Services, or equivalent is preferred.
  • Mental Health First Aid is recommended.

Accountabilities:

Program Support

  • Coordinate  the annual Christmas Kettle Campaign from October – December with support from Director and Executive Directors.
  • Oversee several Christmas Kettle locations.
  • Assist with recruiting and onboarding support staff and volunteers.

Client Management

  • Greet clients and answer phones as required

  • Ensure all clients are treated with dignity and respect and maintain all information in confidence.
  • Make referrals as needed.

EDS

  • Coordinates EDS schedules and communicates regularly with volunteers.
  • Keep EDS van stocked with supplies
  • Maintain records
  • On occasion, be available to help support Sunday meal program

Reporting

  • Maintain reporting systems including Link2Feed Ontario, referral sheets and appointment books.
  • Maintain confidentiality and keep accurate statistical records
  • Retain reports and statistics for Family Care Centre programs.

Perform other related duties as required.

  • Management, coworkers, volunteers, clients

  • General Public, Community partners

MANAGERIAL/Technical Leadership RESPONSIBILITY:

  • This position reports directly to the Family Care Centre Director, or Designate
  • Provide support, assistance, and demonstrate work methods to new staff and volunteers
  • The incumbent may be responsible to provide supervision and direction for volunteers each day and temporary seasonal kettle staff.
  • May be responsible for up to 40 volunteers involved in programs

FINANCIAL AND MATERIALS MANAGEMENT:

  • May receive and process community donations, food deliveries and assist with overall Family Care Centre operations.
  • Accepts non-monetary donations.
  • May pick up Kettles during Seasonal Campaign

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • This is a permanent full-time position based on 37.5 hours per week.
  • Range of pay is $21.28 – 23.28.
  • Schedule may vary according to requirements of responsibilities.  Some evening and week-end work may be required.  Flexibility in scheduling is essential.
  • Working environment is typically at the Family Care Centre in generally agreeable conditions.
  • This job requires reaching, bending, and stooping frequently, working in a sitting, and standing position for periods of time.
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs.
  • May include occasional travel with the EDS van for the EDS food distribution location in downtown Kitchener on occasion

Education, Qualifications and Certifications:

Compensation:

The target hiring range for this position is $21.28 to $26.60 with a maximum of $31.92.

Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
