What you'll do

  • Lead daily fiber-splicing activities and coordinate work assignments for the splicing crew.
  • Perform fusion splicing, ribbon or loose-tube fiber preparation, case/enclosure installation, and fiber organization.
  • Test fiber using OTDR, optical power meter, light source, and related test equipment; identify and correct faults or high-loss events.
  • Read and follow splice plans, fiber assignments, prints, schematics, and project specifications.
  • Complete splice documentation, test results, redlines, and other required closeout records accurately and on time.
  • Verify workmanship meets customer standards, project specifications, and company quality requirements.
  • Troubleshoot damaged or impaired fiber facilities and support emergency restoration when required.
  • Maintain splicing equipment, tools, vehicles, and materials in clean and serviceable condition.
  • Promote safe work practices, conduct jobsite checks, and ensure crew compliance with company and customer safety requirements.
  • Communicate production status, material needs, field issues, and schedule impacts to project leadership.

Physical & Field Requirements

  • Ability to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions, including roadside and active construction environments.
  • Ability to lift and carry tools, materials, and equipment up to approximately 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, kneel, climb, bend, and work in splice trailers, vaults, handholes, cabinets, or other field locations as needed.
  • Occasional overtime, night work, weekend work, travel, or emergency restoration may be required based on project needs.
