What you'll do

  • Build and own the financial model. Budget, rolling forecasts, and scenario planning across revenue, headcount, and spend.
  • Partner cross functionally on budget. Work with department leads on budget to actuals, headcount planning, and spend reviews.
  • Own the monthly close. Journal entries, reconciliations, accruals: deliver accurate financials on a predictable timeline every month.
  • Keep us audit ready. Maintain GAAP compliant books and partner with outside accountants and auditors as Vesta scales.
  • Run AP, AR, and cash operations. Vendor payments, customer invoicing, and day to day cash flow monitoring.
  • Stand up the systems that scale with us. Evaluate and implement finance tooling as we outgrow spreadsheets, and build documented processes for close, forecasting, and reporting.

What they're looking for

  • You're a finance generalist who's equally comfortable closing the books and building the model that goes to the board.
  • You know that clean, timely financials are what let a company make good decisions fast, and you take real pride in a close process that runs on rails instead of adrenaline.
  • You're just as energized by digging into unit economics and building a forecast as you are reconciling an account: you don't see 'accounting' and 'FP&A' as separate jobs, you see them as two halves of the same job, knowing the business cold.

Nice to have

  • Experience at a high growth, venture backed SaaS company
  • Fluency with modern finance tooling (QuickBooks, NetSuite, or comparable) and BI/spreadsheet tools
  • Experience supporting a fundraise or board reporting directly
  • Mortgage, fintech, or B2B SaaS experience

Full description from employer

What we're doing

Owning a home is a foundational part of building financial security and wealth in America. However, the tools and technology that support homeownership are antiquated, dependent on things like fax machines, handwritten documentation, and hours of manual review.

We're here to change it.

Vesta was founded to rebuild the mortgage LOS from the ground up. Our founding belief is that the future of mortgage lending will be a fully automated process. Today, our AI augmented platform makes that a reality. Our mission has been to build a platform where AI isn’t just an add-on, but the core engine that transforms how a loan is actually manufactured.

Who we are

Our founding team is no stranger to the complexities of the financial industry. As early employees at Blend, they spent years together focused on creating modern cloud infrastructure for banks. Now, with Vesta, they are transforming the mortgage industry by creating the most flexible, open and automated origination experience, benefiting financial institutions and their customers.

And, we're not alone.

We've raised $55M from top tier investors, including Andreessen Horowitz, Bain Capital Ventures, Conversion Capital, Zigg Capital, and Index Ventures.

We believe that our team is our greatest competitive advantage and take pride in having a team of exceptional humans. As a team, we value humility, empathy, self-awareness, and an orientation towards action. If this sounds like you and you're excited by the idea of getting in at the ground level to be part of building the infrastructure that will power the future of the finance industry, we would love to hear from you!

Who you are

You're a finance generalist who's equally comfortable closing the books and building the model that goes to the board. You know that clean, timely financials are what let a company make good decisions fast, and you take real pride in a close process that runs on rails instead of adrenaline. You're just as energized by digging into unit economics and building a forecast as you are reconciling an account: you don't see "accounting" and "FP&A" as separate jobs, you see them as two halves of the same job, knowing the business cold. In this role, you'll be Vesta's first dedicated finance hire, owning our books end to end while building the financial planning muscle we go through a period of significant growth. If you want the kind of ownership that only exists at this stage, building the function instead of inheriting one, we'd love to meet you.

  • Stand up the systems that scale with us. Evaluate and implement finance tooling as we outgrow spreadsheets, and build documented processes for close, forecasting, and reporting.

[Optional] Bonus Points!

  • Experience at a high growth, venture backed SaaS company

At Vesta, we believe that the only way we can tackle the challenging problems in front of us is by having diverse perspectives and an environment that promotes inclusivity. We’re committed to equal opportunity regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, gender, gender identity, parental or pregnancy status, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, or veteran status.
