Job Description:

2 POSITIONS : Financial Aid Specialist

LOCATION: DeKalb Campus or Newton Campus

DESCRIPTION:

The Financial Aid Specialist is responsible for performing professional and administrative duties associated with the delivery of student financial aid services. This individual will report to the Executive Director of Financial Aid.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Collects and reviews financial aid applications to determine completeness and eligibility.

Determines eligibility and awards financial aid applicants using various software packages; processes applications and corrections, tracks documents, completes the verification process, generates tracking and award notifications.

Monitors SAP status for students; requests additional information for incomplete or inconsistent applications to perform accurate needs analysis.

Counsels and advises students and parents concerning financial aid and VA opportunities and application processes.

Demonstrated exceptional customer service skills and ability to work in a high- volume and fast paced environment required. Ability to work harmoniously with other employees; must be detail-oriented with the ability to meet and interact with individuals of diverse backgrounds. Manage customer service and call center support by handling inquiries in- person, answering phone calls, email responses and updating account records.

Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM

QUALIFICATIONS:

Associate's degree *and* three (3) years of related work experience. One (1) year of experience working with Banner

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree *and* three (3) years of experience working in Financial Aid.

SALARY AND BENEFITS:

The starting salary for this position is $43,160.00 /annually and is commensurate with experience and education. This is a full-time position which includes paid state holidays, accrued annual and sick leave and the State of Georgia Health and Flexible Benefits Program.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate s degree *and* Three (3) years of related work experience - -Note: Experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis.
