Financial Analyst I (Business Analyst)

Amazon FinOps — GAR Assurance Team
Amazon FinOps is looking for a Business Analyst to be part of the GAR Assurance Team. As Finance Business Analyst at Amazon, you will have the opportunity to work on some of the largest data sets and help build data-driven operational strategies to adapt and be successful in ever-changing business environments.


Key job responsibilities
• Develop strategies to improve accuracy and timeliness of revenue management to ensure billing assurance
• Developing internal finance controls based on industry best practices
• Support revenue recognition policies and revenue generation standards
• Lead projects to address key cross-functional issues spanning financial operations and vendor management
• Deliver financial savings through process improvement and automation initiatives
• Design and implement mechanisms to improve Operational Excellence culture
• Translate business problems into efficient, scalable solutions using AWS services and data tools
• Identify improvement opportunities through cross-team collaboration and brainstorming

Basic Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree or above in computer science, engineering, mathematics or equivalent, or Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, economics, computer science, data science, engineering, or other related field
- • Overall 6+ years' experience with 4+ years of relevant experience in a business analyst/data analyst role
- • Proficiency in AWS services such as S3, Lambda, SES, Step Functions, DynamoDB, and Redshift
- • Proficiency in Amazon Quick Suite and Athena for data analysis and reporting
- • Strong SQL skills for data querying and analysis
- • Proficient with Advanced Excel
- • Experience handling large datasets, summarizing data into metrics, and generating actionable insights
- • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills with attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

- 2+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience
- 4+ years of as a Data Analyst, Data Engineer, Business Intelligence Analyst, or a related occupation experience
- • Master's degree in Finance, Statistics, Business Analytics or related discipline
- • Knowledge of programming languages such as Python or R
- • Basic understanding of how IAM works
- • Basic understanding of AI models and their capabilities
- • Ability to translate business problems into efficient technical solutions
- • Able to work with financial analyses, assess and mitigate risk, and forecast both long and short-term outcomes in a complex business environment
- • Great organizational skills with exceptional follow through and attention to detail
- • Ability to present and clearly communicate complex data, analyses, and findings to non-technical stakeholders
