About this role
Outside IR35
MindClon builds healthcare and medicolegal software that handles sensitive personal data under UK GDPR and clinical governance obligations. The successful candidate will work across the whole stack - React and TypeScript in the browser, TypeScript services and PostgreSQL behind them - on a new clinical-records product and a live clinical transcription product, alongside a small engineering team and the Chief Technical Officer.
This is a mid-level role. You should be comfortable owning a feature from requirement to production with review and support around you, rather than designing the platform on your own.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Build and ship features end to end - React and TypeScript in the browser, TypeScript services and workers on the server, and the data layer beneath them.
- Write and review SQL, schemas and migrations for clinical and case data.
- Cover your work with automated tests - unit, integration and end-to-end - and keep the CI pipeline green.
- Deploy and support services on Google Cloud and in containerised on-premise installations.
- Handle sensitive data properly as a matter of routine: least-privilege access, no personal data in logs, audit trails, UK/EU data residency.
- Take part in code review and keep technical documentation current.

Key Skills
Essential
- TypeScript on both sides - React in the browser and Node.js services on the server.
- SQL and relational data modelling, ideally PostgreSQL, including schema migrations.
- Automated testing as a habit, and Git-based code review.
- Docker and one major cloud platform (GCP, AWS or Azure), with working CI/CD.
- Careful handling of personal or confidential data, and an understanding of UK GDPR obligations.
- Clear communication, and the ability to work independently with support from the team.
Desirable
- Python (FastAPI), Firebase, or Flutter and Dart.
- Healthcare data standards such as FHIR or HL7, or experience of another regulated domain.
- Integrating language-model or speech-to-text services.
- Terraform or comparable infrastructure-as-code; accessibility (WCAG).

Terms and Conditions
Engagement: a contract for services, delivered through the candidate's own limited company and intended to sit outside IR35. Initial term [6 months], with extension by agreement. MindClon UK Ltd qualifies for the small-company exemption from the off-payroll working rules, so the status determination rests with the contractor.
Rate: £350-375 - per day, depending on experience, invoiced monthly.
Location and pattern: hybrid - two days a week at our office in Glasgow with the rest worked remotely. Company equipment may be provided; any device used for MindClon work must meet our device-security policy
