Job Description

Role: General Labour

Job Summary: IG Machine & Fibers, a division of IKO Industries Ltd., located in Brampton, ON is a manufacturer of quality commercial and residential roofing products.

Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the role will be responsible for running the production line for the IG Machine & Fibers production facility. This includes operating machinery, ensuring that raw materials are fed properly through the manufacturing process, resolving line stoppages, clearing equipment jams, verifying finished products against quality specifications, and ensuring that products are properly prepared for shipment.

Compensation: Starting rate is at $25.56/hr

Job Responsibilities

  • Adhering to safety policies, programs, and procedures

  • Inspecting raw material and finished products per quality specifications

  • Conducting quality checks at regular intervals

  • Operating manufacturing equipment in accordance with standard work instructions

  • Operating counterbalance, propane-powered forklift

  • Entering waste and downtime data into the system

  • Document production numbers, items contributing to downtime (using a computerized system called PRODAC, as well as hand-written production reports)

  • General housekeeping duties

  • Additional duties as assigned by Supervisory staff

Qualifications

  • Able to work flexible, rotation shifts 12 hours

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in heavy-industrial manufacturing or construction industry preferred

  • Minimum 1 year of proven forklift operating experience preferred

  • Mechanical aptitude with willingness to learn and be trained on new mechanical processes

  • Proven ability to take initiative and direction

  • Good communication skills; Fluent in English - Reading, Writing and Speaking

  • Basic understanding and use of computer systems

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, hot environment

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds

  • Must be able to walk and/or stand 90% of the shift

  • Must be able to work at heights and in confined spaces

  • Reliable, good work ethic, and positive attitude
