General Manager Procurement and Supply

We are seeking an accomplished and strategic General Manager Procurement & Supply – Hospitals to lead the transformation, establishment and ongoing operation of a Procurement & Supply function dedicated to UnitingCare Hospitals. This executive leadership position will drive procurement strategy, supply chain optimisation, commercial performance and value generation across the Hospitals Group while supporting exceptional patient care outcomes.  

Shape the future of procurement and supply across one of Australia's largest not-for-profit healthcare organisations by working closely with hospital executives, clinicians and enterprise stakeholders to standardise procurement practices, optimise hospital spend categories and deliver sustainable commercial outcomes that support the strategic objectives of our hospitals. 

Your part in our UnitingCare team    

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer - Hospitals and leading a team of procurement and supply professionals, you will provide strategic leadership across procurement, sourcing, contract management, supply operations and commercial performance. As a key member of the Hospitals Senior Leadership Team, you'll collaborate across the organisation to deliver efficiencies, maximise value and strengthen procurement capability across the Hospitals.  

In this role, you will: 

• Lead the development and implementation of procurement and supply strategies that drive consistency, efficiency, value and cost effectiveness across the Hospitals.  

• Establish and operationalise a contemporary Procurement & Supply function focused on hospital-specific spend categories including consumables and prosthetics.  

• Partner with the broader UnitingCare procurement function to optimise enterprise-wide non-clinical spend categories including food, linen, energy and facilities management.  

• Build strong relationships with hospital executives, clinicians, visiting medical officers and key stakeholders to deliver procurement and supply outcomes aligned with business objectives.  

• Lead contract negotiations, supplier relationships, commercial governance and procurement reporting frameworks.  

• Drive the implementation of procurement systems, reporting tools and data-driven decision making to improve transparency and performance.  

• Deliver savings, standardisation and value generation initiatives across the hospital network.  

• Ensure robust procurement governance, compliance and commercial risk management practices are embedded across the organisation.  

• Lead and develop high-performing teams while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement and innovation.  

• Contribute as a member of the Senior Leadership Team to the strategic direction and ongoing success of UnitingCare Hospitals 

What makes a difference for us?  

• Extensive experience leading procurement and supply functions within a private hospital or complex healthcare environment.  

• Demonstrated success leading significant organisational change, transformation and operational improvement initiatives.  

• Strong commercial acumen with experience in procurement strategy, contract management, supplier negotiations and value generation.  

• Proven ability to engage and influence a diverse range of stakeholders including executives, clinicians, suppliers and external partners.  

• Experience leading diverse teams, including developing leaders and building high-performing cultures.  

• Strong strategic thinking, analytical capability and experience using data to drive decision making and performance outcomes.  

• Degree qualification in health, business, operations management, logistics, supply chain, procurement or a related discipline.   

• Eligibility to legally work in Australia and ability to satisfy relevant probity requirements.  

Highly regarded: 

• Previous experience implementing procurement, ERP or supply chain management systems.  

• Strong data analytics and reporting capability. -
